Best food in Montpillar. Home made rolls. Moxie. McKenzie ham from Vermont. A home town place that has been around since for years and packed all year.

No changes in my enthusiasm for The Wayside since my first review in April 2011. But I just learned that The Wayside is also part of the Green Restaurant program here in Vermont. I've known for awhile that it heats its hot water with solar panels (look for the example panel at the far side of the parking lot near... More

Stopped here for breakfast before heading to Ben and Jerry's Factory tour. I ordered the Green Mountain (I believe) breakfast. More than enough food and the best homefries I've ever had. The waitress was super friendly and right on top of things and the price was very reasonable. I wish I had someplace like this where I live.

This restaurant was recommended by a local. It was dinner hour, and I waited about 1/2 hour (which I expected) and then chose to seat myself in a counter seat. Without any greeting, the waitress said, "what do you want?" I ordered an open-faced turkey sandwich and a salad. The salad was ok, edible. The turkey was cold, as were... More

Being from Louisiana, we were not very impressed with the food in Vermont. But we were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant near Montpelier. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. My Wife and I both had the fried clams and they were some of the best that I have had. I also had sour cream blue berry pie,... More

We learned about this place from the book "Road Food", and went a little out of our way for it. The service was excellent, and prices were very reasonable. We both ordered the white/dark meat Turkey special. Along with the sides, it was very good. What the real treasure here was: The Maple cream pie which they are known for.... More

I have been here for lunch many times. The food is good home cooking, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Makes it easier to pay for the family meal! Never been disappointed. And they are always busy!! Definitely recommended!

The service is poor and the owners are too busy to care. the food is horrible and doesn't appear to be homemade. The dessert i always loved, maple cream pie no longer is the same recipe and doesn't have the same texture or amount of maple flavoring.

The food was horrible and the service wasn't much better. My husband ordered chicken parm. The sauce had hamburger in it so he sent it back for plain sauce. When she brought it back they had scraped the speg and sauce from the plate and added new speg and sauce and microwaved the whole thing. It was steaming hot and... More

My husband and I stopped in for lunch one afternoon. We just moved to the area and was looking forward to trying out new places. We knew what we were getting into when we stopped here. Diner food and not much more. My husband wanted a good burger and I was craving seafood. I should've known better living on the... More
