Ok, it's a diner not the French Laundry so think basic, homestyle cooking with all the fat and service that is, well, what you'd expect in a diner. Busy place that has been around 40 years+ so they must be doing something right! Best items are breakfast (real Vermont Maple syrup is included, of course!) and ANY of the pies... more

The Wayside Restaurant is a diner just outside of Montpelier. The prices are excellent. For just under $25 we had: 1 beer, 1 coffee, 1 hot apple cider, a daily special (came with soup) another entree and two pieces of pie. It's a lovely diner set off from one the main roads in the state and with close access to the interstate highways. It has a very welcoming air, bottomless cups of coffee and homestyle cooked food rarely found these days.
