Nice Urban Progressive Spot -- Unremarkable for Its Genre

This is a perfectly nice coffee spot (tea drinkers will find little to entice them) with good WiFi and a decent selection of high-end industrial pastries and bagels. Adequate and comfy seating. If you've been in one of these types of spots, this one will be very familiar. OK prices.

I came here for breakfast three times during my visit to Montpelier, ordering something different each time. Everything was excellent. Great coffee and wonderful, friendly service.

Good local coffee and baked goods. Take a careful look at your fellow customers if the legislature's in session -- you might catch the governor or some state senators gathering to chat. Free wifi. Nice neighborly vibe.

I have to clarify that I am from the home of Starbucks and a devoted customer. That being said, the latte I had here was better than Starbucks. (Shhh...) Also had currant scones - oh my - delicious!! Long line but service was pretty quick.

Excellent coffees, fabulous croissant, one of the few places in Vermont where you can get a Croque Monsieur, much less a Croque Madame! Ambience is relaxed, great mix of locals and visitors.....the staff is always nice, friendly and helpful with big smiles. Bob Watson, the owner, is one cool dude who plays great jazz, blues and other black roots music... More

I have been to Capitol Grounds many times and have never been disappointed. You will be among an eclectic mix of locals. Perhaps an attorney, a legislator, a local just starting their day. Great coffee.

We were visiting Montpelier and stopped in Capitol Grounds for a coffee. My morning pick-me-up, instead of my usual coffee, turned into kombucha, brewed locally, which they served on tap. I am an almost daily kombucha drinker and this was such a treat. I ordered the elderberry. The flavor was great and the fizz was more lively than in bottled... More

Love this place; a must stop on your way through town. Roast their own coffee beans and you can tell they know their stuff; quality food and coffee for years and years.

We came through Montpelier to visit the Capitol. After our visit, I need a coffee "pick me up" and came across this quaint little coffee shop near the Capitol (about 6-7 minute walk or a very short car ride). We drove since we were planning to leave Montpelier since we were on a tight schedule. My husband dropped me off... More

We have been to Capitol Grounds two times in the last 2 months with different experiences each time. Both times, we went to listen to our musician friends play. Our first visit was delightful with good service, good food and cozy atmosphere (and of course good tunes). The second time, for some reason, the staff decided to close the kitchen well... More
