The flowers were very beautiful, we wish we could have gone inside. It was the 3rd of July when we arrived and they closed early.

Good coffee, pastries and fresh bagels but do tend to run out of pastries and bagels in the morning so go early. Not the fastest service in the world

I'm local and I have been here many times for lunch & coffee. They use good bread from real bakery and good ingredients and make very good sandwiches. They have good baked goods, from cookies and scones to croissants and quiches. They have their own coffee beans and for brewed coffee there are several choices, such as Columbian, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe,... More

Our hostess took us to Capitol Grounds for latte and a treat. I had pumpkin bread that was very moist and delicious. Husband had chocolate chip cookie, excellent and friend had raspberry and cream cheese croissant and rated that superb. Fun and funky place in downtown Montpelier to visit.

I just want to say I had a delicious cheese + apple sandwich there and it was DELICIOUS. Coffee was ok. You get a one hour wi-fi password. Think starbucks with personality, better food and a warm smile.

This place has absolutely incredible espresso. They roast their own coffee- almost all of which is organic and all is fair trade. Breakfast is made to order with all local meat (homemade pork sausage! Delicious!), and eggs any way you like them. Try the Green Eggs and Ham - it's amazing! Staff is consistently quick, helpful, and courteous. Far and... More

Stopped in for a quick coffee in downtown Montpelier, came out with "cafe chocolat" (sp?), their take on a latte made with frothed chocolate milk, sprinkled with cocoa. Simply.the.best.cup. we ever had!!!!

I've enjoyed many bagels and cups of coffee here, but I had no idea until today that their hot-chocolate was so delicious. Sweet and kid-friendly, it was also remarkably rich. Enjoy.

I stopped in Montpelier on my travels late on a Sunday afternoon in early December looking for a decent cup of coffee. Most coffeeshops were closed at this hour but, to my surprise, Capitol Grounds was open and packed with people. This was, indeed, a most pleasant surprise. Not only could I find fresh roasted coffee but the luncheon menu... More

10 degrees out ands in in desperate need of a cup of coffee Sunday morning. Found it here. Only problem was I had to wait until 8am until they opened. Place doesn't move early enough for me but it was worth the wait.
