Excellent menu; excellent qualify of food; very slow service

Staying at the Capital Plaza hotel next door, it was convenient for our party of 4 to try out J Morgan's for breakfast and for dinner. Quality of food and value of food was above average. But I still can't understand why they employ young and unqualified staff to match the level of this high... read more

While staying at the Capitol Plaza hotel in Montpelier, we dined at J Morgan's (located inside the hotel) 3 times: once for breakfast, once for brunch and once for dinner. All were awesome and reasonably priced. For breakfast one morning I had planned to run out for coffee and a quick pastry to feed us in a hurry (we slept... More

Delicious burgers and steaks. Their strawberry layer cake is legendary (featured in Bon Appetit!). The atmosphere is lively and very friendly. I ate here for two lunches and two dinners during my stay at the Capitol Plaza and it was great each time!

Let me recommend the lobster mac and cheese - it's to die for. The house salad is a charming take the regular lettuce. Deserts are huge, but I've passed. We eat here at least once a week while we're in town, and no one on my team has had a meal they didn't like. $4 martinis on Tuesday nts, and... More

While staying at Capital Plaza Hotel, I had lunch at J. Morgans. French onion soup, wedge lettuce salad (which is terrific) and half sandwich was a favorite meal while there. All meals that passed by our table looked good. I would come here again! Nice atmosphere. Good bar environment for meeting and greeting, and the restaurant had a good number... More

My husband and I (who are 30ish, but tend to look and dress "young" in casual situations) had just gotten in on the Vermonter train and had checked into the Capitol Plaza hotel, having come all the way up from Washington D.C. as part of our whirlwind trip around the Northeast visiting law schools. The one train per day comes... More

Their steaks, roast beef, filet mignon, and burgers are stellar. They also have great salads like the Waldorf, the Wedge, Asian, and others. The French onion soup is terrific, a really good onion soup broth loaded with cheeses Cocktails of any kind, big variety of beers. The Sunday brunch is well worth going to and special days like Easter and Thanksgiving... More

We came back from skiing, looking for a good hot meal. The number of restaurants in Montpelier are somewhat limited and J Moran's seemed a bit on the fancy side but they could seat us right away. We ordered burgers which we waited an incredible 45 minutes to get. Midway into our wait our waiter informed us that is was... More
