A well-crafted latte with delicious baked goods to match. It will take time and it IS worth it!!! Not a whole lot of space to sit, but definitely worth seeking out!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We really appreciate every piece of feedback we receive and are so happy to hear you enjoyed your visit! (We also wish we could have more seating, but are sadly prohibited due to zoning laws in our town.) Thank you again for taking the time to visit and review us and help... More

Not on the main street but sign set there directed me here. Wonderfully rich yet fluffy chocolate cupcake was amazing. White cupcake with silky lemon filling was old fashioned tender. Something that is not often found these days. Special occasion cakes from this place must be incredible. The white has coconut on the icing so I was surprised to find... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! It's great to hear that you enjoyed your cupcakes and that our downtown sign helped you. Our staff is usually so courteous and friendly, so I think you're right in saying that you must have caught someone on an off day. We really appreciate your understanding that sometimes people aren't... More

For the past two years, my in-laws have ordered the most creative and wonderful cakes from this bakery. One was an incredible pyramid with gummy mummies inside. This year, it was a dragon on top his hoarded gold. These cakes are delicious and utterly beautiful. If you want a custom cake with creative flair, this is the place to go.

This was the most awesome tasting bakery I have ever eaten. Extremely friendly staff. From out of town, but will go back there next time I am in town!

The staff at Birchgrove Baking were extremely friendly and inviting (which is not always the case at chi-chi coffee houses). However, the carrot cake I had was not worth ingesting the calories. The cake itself was bland and the frosting tasted simply like cream cheese (with a very subtle hint of sugar). Next time I will visit the other coffee... More

Thank you for the constructive criticism. I'm so sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your carrot cake! Our customers typically request less sweet icing, so it's hard to please all palates with every item. We hope you don't judge us on the one item you had and would love for you to give us another chance. We have many different... More

I love the variety of bakery items, the warm atmosphere of the store itself and the friendliness of the staff. It is always one of the highlights of my week to stop by and see what's been made - especially if they've made the duffin (an amazing combination of donut and muffin that easily makes my list of favorite baked... Thank you for all of your comments! So nice to hear that our staff is appreciated -- we think they do a great job, but it's always better to hear it from our customers. And those doughnut muffins seem to be a consistent hit, so those will be frequently in the rotation! More

I moved to Montpelier from NYC and let's just say, humbly, that I know good eats. I don't recall how I found the Birchgrove but I will say that my life in VT changed from that moment on. I have happily bought and eaten their cakes, pastries and cookies for over 3 years now and have yet to try everything... More

We stop here often for wonderful lattes and scrumptious scones, cookies, and pastries. The signature items are small desserts, priced at about $6 each, that work well if you want to sample several options. We especially like the bread pudding, key lime pie, and tres leches with mango. The staff are also friendly and helpful.

We were travelling through Vermont on our way to Montreal and were excited to stop here for lunch after reading their website and seeing the number 2 ranking. It was 2pm and there was NOTHING at all for lunch in the whole shop. The bakery case held about 8 individual items and that was it. We got coffees but they... More

I'm so sorry that we weren't able to offer you more on the day that you visited. Sometimes we have an exceptionally busy day and, since we generally close at 3pm, we aren't always able to bake more items before closing. If you head our way again, please give us another try. We'd be happy to make things right for... More

Very happy to find Birchgrove Baking away from downtown Montpelier. My latte was delicious and the cheddar bacon scone was great. I highly recommend that you go here if you are in Montpelier.
