Great tap list, delicious food, excellent service

We started with warm cheese in a puff pastry served with chef's toast and Heady Topper marmalade...enough said? Well, if not, the beer list was world class. The food was unique and delicious. We stopped in on a Wednesday evening after meetings at the Statehouse. The bar area was very crowded but we were able to get a seat at a community table in the dining room area. They have a nice pub menu (the seared tuna sandwich was fantastic) and a great craft beer selection. I'll definitely come back.

We decided to visit Three Penny Taproom as it was recommended by the person we were staying with. After we were seated, the waitress took our drink order rather quickly. However, it took another 15 minutes or so before she came back to take our dinner order. I order the steak and frites and my husband ordered the pot roast.... More

We LOVED the three penny taproom. The food was so delicious but pretty affordable too. We were worried that we weren't going to find a good, affordable place to eat without reservations on a friday night but we were so happy to find that the wait was only 20 minutes. So we just had a drink in the bar (which... More

Enjoyed the selection of four different types of Hill Farmstead beer, especially the Abner ale, a perfect and complex brew. Impressive that they have several types on Jack's Abby on tap along with many others. Although a bit expensive for the higher alcohol content beers (8%) due to smaller than a pint size glass for $8, it was still a... More

My wife and I stopped at this pub during a walk round Montpelier and were greatly pleased with the result. It is split into two rooms - a bar and a restaurant. the bar serves a good range of craft beers and you can also eat at the bar. The menu is varied, if limited.

From the first day I walked in here when it first opened, I felt like the inside bar area was very unwelcoming. I figured they were just not done with decorating. That was several years ago. With the other side opened, it's better. The vibe reminds me of a frat party which was never my thing, but clearly I am... More

In during around Vermont, hubby and I happened to be in Montpelier at lunchtime. In searching for a brewpub, we were presented with the Three Penny. Sounded good, so away we went. Nice ambiance, good selection of craft beer and ciders, mostly local. Not an extensive menu, but something for just about everyone. Hubby and I split the pot roast.... More

Three Penny Taproom is small but inviting. We sat on wooden benches that almost gave you the feeling you were in a ski chalet. The cloth napkins were a nice touch. They have extensive offerings of beer but I had a gin martini. It was a generous pour and perfectly made. The main courses were classic. The beef stew with... More

I've been a few times now in the last year. If I lived here I'd visit twice a week! Great food! Ambiance is awesome! And the beer list is perfect! Cheers!
