An excellent choice for lunch!

We were meeting friends in Montpelier for lunch, and picked the Taproom for its long list of micro-brewed beers. We had a wonderful time with good food and good beer shared with good friends. We each had something different; The Fish & Chips, The Smoked Corn Ravioli, The day’s special burger, a... read more

If you know your beers and want to taste some of the most difficult brews to get in North America, then you'll head to the Three Penny Taproom. If you don't know your beers, don't bother. We are beer aficionados and had some our best tasting experience there. Kevin at the bar was very helpful and a great guide. Plus,... More

Mediocre food and expensive beer. Keep an eye on the menu for serving sizes so you don't end up with a tiny snifter glass. Great place to play the People-Watching-Game "Civil War Re-enactor or Hipster". Hint: they're not Civil War Re-enactors.

My DH and I have been enjoying Three Penny since it opened during the depth of the recession. If you are into craft beer drafts, you can't do better. Their ever-changing selections include choices from Hill Farmstead and Lawson's as well as many others from Vermont, around the US even a few from abroad. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and... More

This is a pretty nice pub in downtown Montpelier that has good food and decent beer. I came here with my fiancé for a quick lunch back in late March and weren't disappointed. The burgers we had were mouth-watering and the service was good as well. I enjoyed my beer as well and parking was fairly easy since Montpelier isn't... More

We were traveling to Waterbury and this was the exit before, so we pulled over and looked for a brewpub and found the three penny taproom. When we were there they were featuring Hill Farmstead brews which wer very good. It seemed like a local place as most people knew each other. It was a nice stop to stop for... More

Had the Beer battered fish and chips. Really tasty! The mayonnaise is awesome with the fries. Service was excellent. A must try when in Montpelier.

Hung out every night for a week in this cool spot. The beers on tap are awesome. The food is really great, except for the french fries (too salty). They definitely need more bar tenders.

I came here on the recommendation of a local -- good call. It's a pub/burger joint, but with a hipster vibe. Much of the food is local and of surprising quality. I had a Reuben that did not have that chemical aftertaste, which was a blessing. Prices are very reasonable, considering the quality. There is much, mostly local, beer available,... More
