Surprisingly good food, local, with a wide beer selection

I came here on the recommendation of a local -- good call. It's a pub/burger joint, but with a hipster vibe. Much of the food is local and of surprising quality. I had a Reuben that did not have that chemical aftertaste, which was a blessing. Prices are very reasonable, considering the quality... read more

Came here based on a recommendation from our innkeeper as a good place to eat in the capital city. The place had a good vibe, reasonable prices, and seemed to be a spot frequented by locals. They had a good beer selection, yummy farm-to-table food, and a nice atmosphere. The Host was really polite, initially told us it might be... More

Finally had a chance to do lunch here and it did not disappoint! Lawson's, Hill Farmstead, etc. on tap. Heady in cans and other great bottles. Food was great and I can't wait to come back for dinner sometime. I can't remember the bartender's name but he was originally from West Virginia. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and a Philly... One of the best bars I've been to! We had the veggie flatbread and I tried some of their beers - their selection is just amazing and the variety unrivalled. We had a nice chat with the waitress and the food was great. Plus, it was very lively but not too noisy. It's a great place to spend your evening... More

Stopped in here after skiing for a couple of beers and a quick bite and wow did we make the right choice. My wife asked about one of their signature drinks and was told it was no longer on the menu. The bartender said "wait a second, I remember that recipe because I made so many of them. Hey no... More

If you like hearty beers, unusual beer champagnes, local brews from Vermont and other interesting breweries, plus the opportunity for bar foods in Montpelier Vt, do visit the Three Penny Taproom! I tried the 16 ounce Zero Gravity Whole Lotta Love cream stout...was delish! Tried one more, the Imperial Stout with 10.5% alcohol - a sipping beer in a snifter!... More

Maybe it was a bad day for the three penny when we had lunch there as we had a pretty horrific experience. Took the server 45 minutes for our beers...food came out cold and burger tasted like sawdust. I would have given the place zero stars but luckily they picked the tab. Will Never go back..

I go here every time I'm in Montpelier. Amazing draft selection, fully stocked bar with kickass cocktails, and well executed local fare. The bartenders are amazing so definitely sit at the bar.

We started with warm cheese in a puff pastry served with chef's toast and Heady Topper marmalade...enough said? Well, if not, the beer list was world class. The food was unique and delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and the place was nice. I really don't have anything bad to say about this place and will definitely be back or... More

We stopped in on a Wednesday evening after meetings at the Statehouse. The bar area was very crowded but we were able to get a seat at a community table in the dining room area. They have a nice pub menu (the seared tuna sandwich was fantastic) and a great craft beer selection. I'll definitely come back.
