Had one night in Montpelier and visited Three Penny Taproom based on TripAdvisor reviews. Everyone is spot on - it's a loud, hipster place with an excellent beer selection. so went in there on a Sunday and they were busy. We sat in the bar side and just had a drink. We were waiting for a table next door at NECI. I had a blood mary. One of the best bloody marys I have had. Great taste and spice (but not too spicy). My husband had a glass of... More

There are tons of choices for great food and great beer in Vermont. At Three Penny Taproom, I was immediately impressed by the selection of draft beers including several from Hills Farmstead. The bartender was friendly and informative, and had no problem talking shop in a way that came across as genuinely interested and not condescending. He even pointed me... More

Expensive with limited menu...if your looking for a $15+ burger with a wide beer selection, than this is the place.

Went the Three Penny Taproom today for lunch with family and could not be any more impressed with the food, service and the local beer that is served there. Had a great experience.

We were meeting friends in Montpelier for lunch, and picked the Taproom for its long list of micro-brewed beers. We had a wonderful time with good food and good beer shared with good friends. We each had something different; The Fish & Chips, The Smoked Corn Ravioli, The day’s special burger, a Stout Chili Burger, and a Caesar salad with... More

If you know your beers and want to taste some of the most difficult brews to get in North America, then you'll head to the Three Penny Taproom. If you don't know your beers, don't bother. We are beer aficionados and had some our best tasting experience there. Kevin at the bar was very helpful and a great guide. Plus,... More

Mediocre food and expensive beer. Keep an eye on the menu for serving sizes so you don't end up with a tiny snifter glass. Great place to play the People-Watching-Game "Civil War Re-enactor or Hipster". Hint: they're not Civil War Re-enactors.

My DH and I have been enjoying Three Penny since it opened during the depth of the recession. If you are into craft beer drafts, you can't do better. Their ever-changing selections include choices from Hill Farmstead and Lawson's as well as many others from Vermont, around the US even a few from abroad. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and... More

This is a pretty nice pub in downtown Montpelier that has good food and decent beer. I came here with my fiancé for a quick lunch back in late March and weren't disappointed. The burgers we had were mouth-watering and the service was good as well. I enjoyed my beer as well and parking was fairly easy since Montpelier isn't... More
