Hit and Miss

I've eaten at La Brioche many, many times. It's a little like eating at a friend's house, where the food may be good, or it may not be. Students prepare the food and sometimes it seems like

This is usually a good spot for simple food offerings and coffee. A bit on the pricy side for what you get, but not outrageously so. The baked goods are excellent. Service can be a bit abrupt and impersonal. Clean, but not upscale. Reliable for simple fare.

The baked items looked good, but my friends and I walked out upon discovering there were no gluten free options for baked goods. In today's world that's archaic as so many people have Celiac.

We tried the La Brioche Bakery and Cafe after going to have breakfast at the coffee corner across the street. We were pleasantly surprised that they had some good coffee drinks there and could accommodate all annoying requests! Great service and drinks.

Expensive. Sometimes mis-shapen or over cooked, or under cooked, but STILL expensive. Made by NECI students. All you need to know...

Enjoyed the spinach and feta stuffed croissant and the pumpkin tart. The croissant was the divine and the crust on the tart perfect.

We stopped in for tea, hot chocolate, and pastries one morning and were well-satisfied. It's staffed by students in the New England Culinary Institute. La Brioche is in the center of the town and easy to walk to. Good friendly service.

We had a coffee and pastry whilst making a quick visit to the town. The apple galette was one of the best I've ever had! Coffee was so-so but we find very few people in the US can make a decent coffee! Service good and friendly. Worth a visit for the apple galette!

Stopped here during our visit to this capital city. Had a coffee, cappuccino, chocolate croissant and monkey bread. I'm not a croissant fan, but this chocolate croissant was delicious as were the other items. Nice snack for the afternoon!

If in Montpelier and hankering for a good cup of coffee and something sweet, do drop by La Brioche, NECI's affiliate where baking students are taught the sweeter side of life. Their lattes and cappucinos are truly flavorful and the pastries are mind-numbingly delicious. Hike an extra half hour and indulge in one of their sweets or take it to... More
