I have eaten at Middlebury's only Thai restaurant several times, but my recent experience taking relatives visiting from abroad was so horrific that I have to write this review. Our relatives have two children, aged 6 & 7. In Vermont, I expected that children would be welcome in any restaurant, but Sabai Sabai was NOT KID FRIENDLY. When we arrived,... More

I had been to Sabai Sabai several times in the past and had wonderful meals. I especially liked their sushi. I went there this time specifically to get sushi, but there was a sign in the dining room indicating they were no longer serving sushi. I was very disappointed but decided to eat there anyway. Then I ordered a curry... More

A solid Thai restaurant that is willing to make it authentically hot if you ask. Right in the downtown area. Great service. Nice, spacious room.

During our recent college tour over spring break to Middlebury, we found Sabai Sabai Thai Restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised how enjoyable our meal was and how nice our server (a UC Santa Cruz) graduate was. The food was tasty, portions were good sized and the prices were reasonable. Now this place is not a fancy restaurant, but it's perfect... More

Finally ate here after passing it a hundred times. What a surprise! This place has a major menu with most of the Thai classics and a few new twists on the theme. After we ordered, I saw they have a Japanese menu too so I ordered a dish called Yellowtail Banzai that was very nicely presented slices of sashimi in... More

My troop of older HS Girl Scouts planned this weekend of skiing, B&B and restaurants completely on their own, and we loved every minute of it. We wanted something ethnic, but also were on a strict budget. Sabai Sabai was authentic Thai food, which is one of my favorites, but because I am allergic to coconut milk, I tend to... More

We're into fresh, local, and organic in Vermont. But we're also into quality, reasonable, friendly, and tasty. That's why Sabai Sabai in Middlebury deserves five stars. This is not a fine dining experience, but it's a pretty damn good eating experience at an affordable price. The space is comfortable. The service (our experience) was friendly and competent. The beer selection... More

We stopped in for lunch and had a great meal. We've been to Thailand and know a bit about the food. Lunch was served steaming hot. Fresh ingredients. Large portions. We ordered "spicy hot", and it was "hot" and we loved it. If you are not into hot, order mild. Excellent service. Cannot wait to go back.

Don't be fooled by outside appearance. The inside is cheery, large, open and generally very well appointed. The lunch that we ordered was more than expected. The spices and size of portions were excellent. All the vegetables in both noodle dishes were very well done. An unexpected and pleasant treat that we would eagerly return to.
