We stopped here as a happy accident. Driving, tired, needed coffee and something to munch, and happened to look up and spot a bakery. Bill welcomes folks with his offbeat and individual style. The food is sensational - the best pastries I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot!). The bakery is small, and quite squished really. And Bill's style... More

Rainbow Sweets is both offbeat and off the beaten path, a small rural cafe and bakery run as a labor of love by an eccentric owner/operator with an urban background. Pay no heed to any reviews here talking about rudeness; I can only explain these as coming from people with no sense of humor, who went out of their way... More

The food prepared is really good especially the pizza, baguettes and the sweets. The owners who run the place are absolutely rude to customers unless they want to spend plenty money on their products. They also were observed arguing with each other in front of customers. Though they do sell coffee...you are not welcomed to just come for the coffee- they... More

Found by accident on Rte 2 N. of Montpelier in 2011, this year I planned my trip through NY, VT, NH and ME to arrive in Marshfield for lunch. This time instead of the Empanada I had the B'stilla with Greek Salad and it was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the Butternut Crunch dessert while listening to others praise the St.... More

8 of us from Florida had just toured Cabot Cheese and were on our way to tour the Barre granite quarry and were looking for a non-chain restaurant for lunch. We really lucked out when we found Rainbow Sweets, a gourmet bakery and cafe under the same ownership since 1976. The proprietor had us in stitches from the moment we... More

This place was on our way and we decided to come in even after some reviews said the owner is an unpleasant person. Well - to us he was very nice. Telling us everything he baked for us and asking about us- who we are and where we come from.. He made us smile. The pastry we took were good.... More

My wife and I stopped at this restruant thinking we would just have a bowl of soup. It is a small place which could use more room. We waited and then ordered one of their specialties but the main one is at the end when this person is pushing his desserts. If one is not use to him, one would... More

We cannot say enough about the fantastic time we had at Rainbow Sweets! We found the best food (and local touring information) at this small cafe in Marshfield. Do not miss the St. Honore pastry and Bstilla for lunch. We even took brioche and baklava with us for the next day. The owner and staff gave us touring suggestions and... More

I come from several towns away, where we wish we had a French bakery or Euro style cafe, so I think it is great that MarshfieId has had one for a long time. Yet I have never had a good experience here. I've been here two or three times separated by a lot of years. Each time I have the... More

While you are "leaf peeping" or just taking in the country in north east Vermont stop by the Rainbow Sweets Bakery and Café in the tiny town of Marshfield along highway 2. Most everything on the menu is baked, including brioche, quiche and empanadas accompanied by a good Greek style salad. But save room for the wonderful cakes and pastries... More
