I stopped here by chance years ago and have always remembered it. I tend to be on the look out for small town cafe's and this one continues to stay on my top ten list. The owner is super engaging and his love for the food he prepares shows in the taste of lunches or treats! Have been back any... More

I stopped by accident on a road trip through Vermont. We were on our way to the Cabot Creamery when a motor vehicle accident closed the road in front of us. After a scenic trip over and through the woods, we emerged onto the hard road directly in front of Rainbow Sweets. Serendipity strikes again. My 4 year old son... More

We were driving through this little town on vacation (not in the town) and I suggested stopping to eat at "that little bakery café thing". It was raining, so we were lucky to get inside the nice bakery. When we walked in, we were greeted by the owner. If you don't stop for the food, stop for him. He was... More

The food was delicious and the owner/waiter's banter was delightful. On weekend night's dinner is served and we were lucky to get a table. Their was a wonderful selection of dinner choices and quite sophisticated. The dessert case was filled with an amazing array of pastries from small cookies to the biggest chocolate layer cake I have ever encountered. It... More

Just back from our annual motor trip to Vermont and New Hampshire... Rainbow Foods is just about as good as it gets.. Excellent, exciting and different foods, all explained by the chef/owner/raconteur who has been at this for a long time... After one of the best salads I've had in months, the desserts were so tasty we took home some... More

Happened to stop at Rainbow Sweets on the way west on Rte.2 to Lake Champlain and we could not believe our good fortune! The owner greeted us with his dry humor, and it only took a moment to realize it was all a put-on. Soon we were on our way to a simply fabulous lunch! Only a few times in... More

We stopped here as a happy accident. Driving, tired, needed coffee and something to munch, and happened to look up and spot a bakery. Bill welcomes folks with his offbeat and individual style. The food is sensational - the best pastries I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot!). The bakery is small, and quite squished really. And Bill's style... More

Rainbow Sweets is both offbeat and off the beaten path, a small rural cafe and bakery run as a labor of love by an eccentric owner/operator with an urban background. Pay no heed to any reviews here talking about rudeness; I can only explain these as coming from people with no sense of humor, who went out of their way... More

The food prepared is really good especially the pizza, baguettes and the sweets. The owners who run the place are absolutely rude to customers unless they want to spend plenty money on their products. They also were observed arguing with each other in front of customers. Though they do sell coffee...you are not welcomed to just come for the coffee- they... More

Found by accident on Rte 2 N. of Montpelier in 2011, this year I planned my trip through NY, VT, NH and ME to arrive in Marshfield for lunch. This time instead of the Empanada I had the B'stilla with Greek Salad and it was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the Butternut Crunch dessert while listening to others praise the St.... More
