My wife and I made a reservation for this restaurant that had been recommended by our innkeepers. However when we arrived, the hostess could not find our reservation; however, she did offer to seat us. Unfortunately she offered us a table in a room where we were the only diners. When I asked for a table in the main dining... more

Four of us very much enjoyed The Perfect Wife for dinner. Menu choices is limited but this results in fresh, locally produced products becoming part of a fine meal. We will return when in the Manchester area. more

My fiance and I ate here recently during a trip to Vermont. We had two appetizers the "nacho baby", which was a small nacho plate, and a flatbread pizza with duck, hoisin, and scallions. For the main meal, I had an Ahi Tuna with Angel Hair Putanesca and my fiance had a curried sweet potato hash with brown rice (she's... more

Is it possible that the best restaurants in town are not reviewed? We have been eating at the Perfect Wife for many years. Upstairs , with a outdoor patio in good weather is more casual. (No reservations) There is entertainment some nights. The food includes burgers, sliders, fish, salads, meatloaf, steak , etc. There are interesting specials every day. Seating... more

This restaurant bizarrely fuses two experiences. For the local snowboarding crowd there's a raucous bar scene of grunge/dead head/reggae bands playing four days a week. For anyone over 35, there's also a regular and quieter comfort food restaurant existing downstairs. The improbable combination is held together by the simple, but great food of its owner/chef. Except for the elegant high-end,... more

While on vacation this week my husband & I decided to try The Perfect Wife based on some of the good reviews we had read. We were excited since the restaurant is Chef owned so we were imagining something fantastic. Upon entering the restaurant the atmosphere was okay. Once seated it took a while for the waitress to come over... more

While on a recent visit to Manchester, VT, we had dinner at The Perfect Wife- While a high end dining experience, the food was very good (everyone raved about the bread basket and varied menu offerrings- I had quail) and the ambiance very nice- Our server was just okay but made no mistakes- There are a number of restaurant choices... more

The least a restaurant can offer is friendly service, and this was missing in our Sept 2008 visit. Our greeter, who doubled as server, was brusque and impersonal, although the food service was prompt, almost too prompt. Could have been a bad day, but the food was also disappointing. The quality and presentation was at the level of a pretty... more

My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner after golf in late August. We sat on the stone patio on a lovely, sunny evening, enjoyed very good food and attentive service. We chose the tavern as we were dressed pretty casually -- reservations are recommended for the restaurant. The food was well-prepared and innovative -- the bread basket full of... more

Mmmm! Some friends and I ate here on the last night of a week long snowboarding trip. We were exhausted and famished and the Perfect Wife had the perfect cure. Everything we tried was delicious. Creative dishes, sure a little expensive but well worth it. (Comparable to dining in NY.) The warm spinach salad with goat cheese fritter was amazing.... more
