Very good French food in VT

As a local, we have eaten at Brasserie L'Oustau many times and have never been disappointed, although the Travel & Leisure listing as one of the top ten French restaurants in the USA is a bit of a stretch (watch out Thomas Keller!). Food is generally excellent - everything I have ever tried has... read more

Wonderful French restaurant in the heart of vacation country. The menu is extensive and interesting, the service both friendly and professional. Chocolate lovers should not miss the Valhrona pot de crème- a most memorable dessert!

It's the real deal. I read the bad reviews (few), and one complained about how they wouldn't overcook a steak. This place is french, so darn straight they wouldn't over cook it. ALL steaks should be rare to med rare. If you want a good french meal, and frankly who doesn't now & then, go here.

We arrived after a long trip driving up from NYC. We didn't have big expectations. Wow! What a great surprise to find Brasserie L'Oustau. We started with a selection of appetizers for a large table of 8 people and then my wife and I ordered the venison and washed it down with a very gentle Pinot Noir that was not... More

This was a very delicious dinner. Every plate was better than the last, and managed to save room for dessert. No weak spots on the menu, and we over ordered for sure. Incredible wine selection and really great service. The owner gives you a friendly hello and by the time you leave, you'll go out of your way to thank... More

A fabulous restaurant just outside of Manchester. We booked ahead and mentioned we were bringing our dog so needed to sit outside. It had been raining earlier and when we arrived they had dried and set a table for us with a candle - it was really cute. The service was excellent. We were the only ones sitting outside and... We had dinner here based on the recommendation of the concierge and saw the Best of 2015 award in Yankee magazine. We had an 830p reservation. We did not think anything of the time but wish the concierge would have told us this was one of the last settings of the night. There were at least three entrees that they... More

After a day of hiking in Green Mountains, my gf and I were in the mood for some good food; and Brasserie L'Oustau didn't disappoint. The bread was warm and the butter was just right (a testament to a great restaurant). The wine list is extensive but not pricey. The food was delicious, elegantly served by attentive waiters. The food... More

Met the owner.. he was very hospitable.. It was obvious that the servers are well trained and knowledgeable. Our appetizers were absolutely wonderful. Try the beat salad.. wow was it great.. then our mains came out and everything was well presented and tasted wonderful. My only criticism was that the steak frites I think the chef was a little heavy... More
