Amazing and so quaint and personal

My boyfriend surprised me with this restaurant. We were traveling through Vermont skiing, visiting breweries and finding great eats. What a gem this was. If you like sitting at the bar, be there before it opens at least 15min. If you want a table (only about 12 in the whole place) then you... read more

I went shopping for groceries with my friend, The Duke of Ludlow. I usually get my groceries down to Hannaford's, but this time I decided to go to The Downtown Grocery. When I walked in with my grocery cart everybody seemed a little confused. Turns out it ain't no grocery store, it's a restaurant. Me and The Duke sat down... More

The second time we have eaten here. Couldn't get a reservation but it was suggested that we might want to sit at the bar. The bar experience was great. The meal was superb as was the banter with the bartender. Ambience is great and Abby, the owner and chief, unobtrusively mixes with the guests and makes sure their experience is... More

This place is, without a doubt, our favorite restaurant anywhere. Rogan might just be the most talented chef in the country. Abby and her front of the house staff make you feel like family. Every morsel is spectacular...the cocktails are creative and perfectly balanced...even the kiddie ones. Be sure to buy the kitchen a round of ponies...they deserve a few...and... More

In mid-January, we took the older daughter out for a birthday dinner, accompanied by the 2 year old. The snow was coming down hard as we were seated at a table in the corner by the street. The casual unpretentious atmosphere provided a wonderful foil to the delightful food. The bacon ice cream was amazing! The staff took great care... More

I have eaten here several times and have yet to be disappointed. Recently ate at the bar, as I could not get a reservation 3 weeks out. The bar was most enjoyable, as both bartenders are highly skilled in their creative cocktail selections and know the menu very well. The house made chips are addictive and can only be had... More

Previous reviews had this place highly rated which is why we made reservations. Reservations are definitely needed as they get book most nights. I'd make your reservation well in advance if you know you're going to be in the area. For the hype we were a bit disappointed. The hostess and wait staff were very friendly and efficient. The food... I was excited to visit after I read all the reviews, for the ecliptic menu I read I never expected to enter a mixture of tavern and irish pub(not that I go those places often).Very loud almost impossible to hold conversation with high quality (but very strong) cocktailes, guests were rounded up by 830pm and screaming on top of their lungs.... Great food, very fresh dishes with a little twist to them. Catfish with grits/sprinkled with brusselsprout leaves, the burger with pimento cheese, salads with Vermont goat cheese. It's just nice to have a little difference in the food and also have it taste wonderful. Great service, nice wine list. A little pricey, but worth it if you're in Ludlow,Vermont.
