Downtown Grocery is the perfect addition to Ludlow, VT where families from Fairfield County, Connecticut take their kids to learn to ski. This restaurant could easily be picked up and settled in Greenwich or New Canaan. So if you're looking for a dining experience similar to what you get at home, this is the place for the best food in... More

A really unusual mix of flavours in almost every dish, introduced by our friendly server, Ben. The chef grows many of the summer vegetables on the roof of the building. Most everything else is produced in the local community; meat is butchered in house. Very imaginative entrees - it was hard to choose what to have. I had a deckle... More

When I walked in I was struck by the number of specials on the chalk board. In theory, I think a variety of specials are a good thing, but the board was overloaded with them. If you're going to put that many specials on a chalk board, create a specials menu for people, or if they are popular enough just... More

We went to the Downtown Grocery yesterday evening, a monday. Without reservation. It was full when we arrived around 7.30 pm. We could wait and after 20 minutes we could sit down. The choice of food is big enough (a lot of fish), with some very nice specials. We had an appetizer (1x lamb and 1x bresila wagyu beef), entree... More

Have dined here many times. Abby and Rogan are a great husband-wife team-Abby in the front, Rogan as the chef in the back. They create a welcoming, innovative dining experience in a casual atmosphere. The daily specials include food, wine, and creative drinks. This is a not to be missed experience. We have had food ranging from fish to beef... More

Two of us enjoyed a really excellent meal -- interesting presentations, unusual combinations, and all fresh and delicious. The wait staff was excellent all around: friendly and knowledgeable. Just by chance, we were there on a night when they had what they call the "Throwdown" -- a three-course meal for (in Sept. 2014) only $29. An amazing bargain! Would have... More

We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary with my in-laws (first time diners who came in from East Hampton, NY) and as always a wonderful time and meal was had by all. For a busy Saturday night, we were warmly greeted by Abby (co-owner) and her great wait staff - Marina and Ashley. (Even bartender Natalie was nice enough to bring... More
