It is NOT inexpensive. That said there is a lot of thought going into the offerings. I had a wonderful chicken hash. Who'd have thought? Potatoes sauteed in duck fat, chicken ... yum. Tasty creme brulee for dessert. Wine and nice company sitting at the bar. I love the place!

We took a chance and walked in without reservations on a Saturday night. Abbey, the co-owner we later found out, promptly found us a table and we were seated with a smile. The menu was eclectic with local ingredients. We enjoyed handcrafted cocktails as well. Lindsey, our waitress, was very accommodating and friendly. We got engaged the night before and... More

Visited with four Amazing women recently & arrived 16 minutes late for a 5:30 reservation & were told by Abby, the hostess "we will try tomake this work" . As we had made the reservation 4 weeks ahead , This sullied our mood and we did not feel welcome. The drinks were pricey but delicious. Food was fresh and amazing.... More

The drinks and food were tasty, but it was so loud we had a hard time holding a conversation or hearing the waitress. The short ribs were dee-lish. It was a bit pricey.

We go to Ludlow every February to ski and we always look forward to our annual dinner at The Downtown Grocery. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and lovely. The wine list is robust, and the signature cocktails are very tasty. And the food is out of this world! Creative dishes abound on the seasonal menu, and we have never had... More

Eclectic way overpriced food selection. Service is good, and if you like paying $15 for a tasty demitasse of squash soup, then this is the place for you. There are many unusual dishes, which have very good flavor, but the portions are tiny. Last time there for 'ladies nite', my soup and side salad meal was over $35, without beverage... More

By any measurement, the Grocery has to be considered the best restaurant in Ludlow. It features high-quality foods and a wonderful wine list. And you won't find a friendly hostess. The small bar also offers the same quality food. Your only concern may be parking. It's a very popular restaurant - so, if you can't find a parking space nearby,... More

Food was good as promised but with reservations for 6pm and being a little early, we did not get dinner for a long time and were not out until 9pm. That much sitting after skiing is not good for the body. Loved the Panini and scallop appetizers- did not think much of the rice with lobster dishes- price was high... More

This is the second time we went here. Last time was last year. We had to make reservations a month in advance. Since the last time the service has dropped considerably. There are clearly not enough tables and while we waited we saw a couple cramped under the hanging coats. They were not happy. Our drinks and appetizers came out... More

One of my favorite restaurants I have ever been to. Cozy, unpretentious and comfortable atmosphere. All of the waiters wear jeans and flannel :) The birch branch decor and wood stove make you feel at home-- the food is amazing! Specialty cocktails and unique dishes made with the freshest local ingredients. Make sure to make a reservation because they fill... More
