Evening in Vt

We traveled to Okemo mountain for the night to finish up some building plans on a recent purchase. We spent a good part of the day traveling up Rt 7 north into Vt. After finishing up our plan was to find another new place to eat in Ludlow that we have not been to yet.We walked in the Downtown... read more

Myself and members of my family have eaten at the Grocery many times over the last few summers. The 3 course special was always an affordable option in spite of the overpriced wines. The food and service was always excellent and a good time was had by all. However, this year there seems to be an effort to lengthen the... More

We had our anniversary dinner here. Walked in and were greated with friendly smiles and happy wishes for our anniversary, they were setting a special table in the window so we grabbed a cocktail at the bar. Moved to table and were served complimentary glasses of prosecco with best wishes. Then things turned, we asked if we could start with... More

This is a farm to table place with excellent and innovative food in an truly informal setting just off the main street in Ludlow. The menu is quite expensive given the looks of the place but the fixed price three course menu they evidently serve only on Monday night was was a real bargain.

On Monday Nights, they are open... The staff are dressed in jeans and plad shirts, which makes for a comfortable feel. They offer a three course dinner for $30. That is a steal. I opted to order off the menu, starting with the flat bread of the day which had home made cured sausage, cheese, and arugula. It was fabulous.... More

In a town the size of Ludlow, Vermont one would not expect the the "edge" and the sophistication this restaurant has. A couple examples: the variety of choices on the wine list is impressive because they have done the research to find the vintners who are stepping out and trying new blends; or how about the olives - creating their... What a gem of a restaurant. With unusual menu choices such as Trout bone salad and halibut tail it delivered a different and delicious experience. Staff were friendly and efficient. It wasn't cheap but it was certainly worth it!

We ate there Monday night and as usual the food was incredible. The chalkboard specials always WOW you. They have very unique offerings and we've never ordered off the printed menu. My 2 favorites are head cheese followed by bone marrow when available. If you're a foodie you need to eat here.

The staff are very professional and the food and drink concoctions are magical. You'll find things like basil mojitos, fried trout bones, pork bellies, and a fun signature dessert that mimics breakfast, complete with bacon-flavored ice cream! Fun to sit at the bar if you're one or two people and chit chat (while watching them work their cocktail magic!) with... More

I have lived in Ludlow 20 plus years and there is nothing like the Downtown Grocery, the presentation and combination of seasonal flavors is amazing. I have lived here a long time and this is by far the greatest food in the surrounding area, the closest restaurant that even compares is Solo farm to table in Jamaica VT. The servers... More
