Nice place, laid-back environment, good food (warning: don't get the fries if you're not supposed to eat more than one or two) -- served by a very, very pleasant waitress. If I lived there, I'd be at this restaurant once a week for sure. But, alas, only a traveling kayaker/canoeist from elsewhere.

If you are staying at Smugglers and want to avoid the treacherous drive down to Stowe, 158 is a good option. Solid for breakfast or lunch

We were staying at Smugglers' Notch Resort, located about halfway between Jeffersonville and Stowe. We went to Stowe for most of our meals, but I'm glad we explored Jeffersonville for two of them - a dinner and a breakfast. 158 Main is a rustic store-front restaurant and bakery, but you can tell the kitchen has creative and well-trained staff. They... More

I went here with my wife and kids. When we got there it was quite full, but there were 3 open tables. However, we had to wait for about 10 minutes before this annoying women came over with a clipboard and said we could put our name on the waiting list. We pointed out that there were open tables but... More

We had leave before we were served because the service was so bad. The hostess is completely disorganized. It took her 15 minutes to sit us at a table that had been empty since the tone we arrived and then another 10 minutes to assign a server to us. The place is not well run and it was a very... More

We went to 158 Main on the recommendation of several people All I can say is the place was packed both times we went. It is an old time bakery turned into a casual eatery. The food was good (take home a loaf of fresh baked bread) The "Vermont breakfast" was so goooood. The French toast was like you never... More

Our family has been going to 158 Main for at least ten years. It's the one mandatory stop our family enjoys over and over again. Everything is prepared fresh with local ingredients. The portions are generous and delicious. Also their fresh baked goods are awesome. If your visiting this beautiful area of Vermont, I recommend you stop in for a... More

I stopped here for dinner while traveling through the Smuggler's Notch area. I waited for what seemed like forever for the hostess to greet me. she only arrived after a couple came in behind me. She attempted to seat me at the bar, and when I asked for a table she told me she could not seat me at a... More

We had a large party who was hungry for a Vermont breakfast. When you travel it is a treat to find a restaurant with local charm and flavorful food. We weren't disappointed. The exterior and interior were rustic, without being over-intentional or worse, unhygienic. Rather you felt right at home with a very friendly staff. And the breakfast was delicious!... More
