We always enjoyed this place, but The Belted Cow closed in April 2014. Apparently El Gato Cortina will open its second restaurant (one is in Burlington) at this location in the near future.

My senses were delighted. Chicken wings as an app had incredible flavor. Each time I return I'm continually impressed by the consistenly amazing food.

Love the atmosphere. We like to go here for date night of wine and appetizers. The dinners are great too. Great place for girls night out as well.

I just ate some of the best ribs I've ever had. This was my second time here and both times my husband and I enjoyed delicious meals. Service was excellent with very friendly and knowledgable staff.

My husband and I have been to The Belted Cow three times now, and each was better than the last. The seasonal variations are interesting, creative, and delicious. I love every risotto dish I've tried, and my husband is a fan of the ribs (but come early or call ahead to reserve them, as ribs sell out many nights). The... More

My wife, a Southerner who knows barbecue (her brother-in-law grills alligator tail), met one of the owners of the Belted Cow on recent flight to Burlington, Vermont. In the course of their conversation, she found out that their local restaurant knows "how to do" ribs! So we tried it out. Conclusion: Excellent ribs, sourced from St. Johnsbury, VT; really good... My boyfriend and I spent a recent weekend in the Essex Resort and were advised to try the Belted Cow by the excellent staff at the Essex. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious and well-prepared --- especally try the wings! They are nothing like standard "chicken wings" and are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The pulled pork and cheesecake... More

Ladies weekend away, so close to the Vt Culimary Institute Resort, and worth the short drive away for a different menu and environment. The food was unique and delicious... Pulled pork sandwiches, butternut squash soup, Flatbread with duck confit and beet salad were excellent, it was really hard to make a decision with all the flavorful offerings, reasonable prices, friendly... Great experience, thoroughly pleased with the food; the portions were good size, reasonably priced and plated well. The owner came out when I ordered a Hefeweizen, knowing that if poured incorrectly can make a huge head on the beer. Would recommend to everyone in the greater Burlington area taking the short drive out to Essex Junction! ( another plus no... More
