My wife and I went to Chantecleer for the first time Sat evening, April 13, 2013. Sitting near the fireplace, was perfect on a cold rainy night. The caeser salad was fantastic...the best ever, escargot and onion soup, seasoned different, but excellent. We also had mussels, which were excellent, but I prefer no smoked bacon bits. Next time we plan... More

16 family members celebrated our 50th anniversary dinner with us. I had met with Melanie, the chef's wife and co-owner sveeral weeks prior to the event and planned the menu and seating. We had cocktails and appetizers milling about the bar room followed by a glorious dinner with 3 choices for the main course. Even a vegetarian option was created... More

My honey and I ate here Thanksgiving weekend. I hadn't eaten here in a long time , like years, and kept promising to go back to see if it was as good as I remembered. It was that and more. My honey is very picky about restauaunts. Not only do they have to have good food but the atmosphere is... More

We had dinner at The Chantecleer restaurant the first time on Friday evening, the second of November 2012. Tis was one of the finest dining experiences we have ever had !! The moment you enter the dining room the ambiance strikes you with suttle colors, beautiful woods, and a fireplace beckoning to to sit and relax. The four of us... More

Cannot recommend this place enough. Not the cheapest place but the food is amazing. We had the steak (which was about 16-20oz) and the duck. Both were exceptional. It has an extensive wine list and lovely atmosphere - very cosy with a big fire. Great value for money. It's about 20-25 min walk from East Dorset's general store towards Manchester.

In a renovated dairy barn, the restaurant is locally popular, even though quite expensive. Once were seated, 20 minutes after our reservation (It was Columbus Day weekend, and the place was crowded), the service and food, with locally-sourced ingredients, were excellent. On a tip, we had requested and ate at the table by the fireplace. That area is the smaller... More

"Be Nice or Leave" read the shiny silver banner hanging above the dining room doorway on Labor Day weekend. The vast majority of customers are perfectly nice, and 100% of them pay a hefty price for a meal at this restaurant. The food, the wine and the service were good, but I don't think I'll go back because the first... More

Usually when someone tells me I'm going to a French Restaurant, I get excited because it gives me an excuse to dress up a little bit. This time resulted in me being slightly overdressed, but not dissappointed regarding the food. An excellent array of dishes can tantalize every pallett at this hidden gem in Manchester. I specifically recommend the Beef... More

Good service, excellent food, nice country surroundings. Wide & interesting menu selections. Would recommend sweet breads for the adventurous. Entree choices were also varied. We enjoyed the venison & the veal.

The lighting was soft and the exposed wood soothing. Chantecleer is one of the most romantic dining experiences. We started off with a bottle of wine from an ample list of fine wines. We took our time and began with the escargots appetizer, extremely tasty in a garlic butter sauce. One of the entree specials we tried was the panko... More
