While in Washington County NY for the annual "Cheese tour", my wife and I came over to the Dorset Inn for dinner on the advice of a friend. We were happy to do so. The setting is absolutely lovely, and the food is quite good, too. We ate in the "tap room", which is slightly less formal than the dining... More

We recently dined at the Dorset Inn in their pub and each of us had a fabulous meal. We would not have gone there but for the recommendation of a shopkeeper in Manchester. My wife had the salmon and I had the turkey croquettes. She says her fish was perfectly done which is a rarity in our experience as too... More

Arriving in Dorset feels a bit like being transported to Nantucket or the Vineyard in terms of its charm and quality - the historic homes and businesses have been meticulously restored, and the sidewalk in front of the Inn is white marble. It's a beautiful, quiet enclave. I recommend arriving in time to stroll around a bit before dinner. The... More

In years past we've had lunch at the Dorset Inn on several occasions, and on one Thanksgiving afternoon, a memorable feast. Tonight it was just a relaxing dinner during our annual end-of-summer sojourn in Vermont, and it was really enjoyable. The dining room was busy but we were still offered a nice deuce near a window. Noise was a modest... More

I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent food quality at the oldest Inn in Vermont. Everything was fresh and well prepared- by far the best meal we had in Vermont.

Just had our second meal there. Our first was dinner two years ago when we vacationed in Vermont. The bar is dark and cozy, a real step back in time. Dinner was fantastic as was their wine list. We are visiting again this year and decided to stop for lunch. Same experience. Great. We brought our kids and they loved... More

Located on the lovely village green, you may choose to be seated either in the Tavern or in the more formal Dining Room. In either case, the food is delicious and ranges from a hamburger to a finely prepared fish dish, to a grilled steak, to a fabulous vegetarian entree, etc, etc. The wine, beer and liquor list is extensive... We stayed this past week for three nights at the Inn @Manchester. Based on their recommendations and previous experiences at the restaurant, we decided to take the short 10 minute drive up to Dorsett for dinner at the Dorset Inn. The Dorset Inn is Vermont's oldest continuously operating Inn. We have eaten there in prior years but the recent upgrades... More

It's a solid standby that delivers good food in a fairly stifling environment. The value is good if not outstanding though (like most of the places up here) the real action seems to take place in the tavern where the locals hang. Good mussels, interesting (and typically overpriced) wine list.
