My favorite

Challah bread is perfection. Also had gluten free bread for my husband :) Really creative cafe menu. Turmeric ginger smoothies, soups, sandwiches... Curry yogurt sauce YUM! They also have groceries & boutique-y gifts.

I was visiting Chester Vermont with my family and we decided to eat at the Moon Dog Cafe for lunch. Everything on their menu sounded delicious so it was hard to choose but I can say we were all extremely satisfied with the food we chose. It was better than anything I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Everyone there was... More

We love this quaint, easy-going, organic restaurant so much, we happily drive two hours to get there. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff wonderful and the hearty and comforting dishes are absolute heaven! We eat like royalty and with great peace of mind because besides being incredibly delicious, everything is made with only the best ingredients available. Whoever makes the... More

We happened to find this spot last year on our way home to RI from a snow shoeing event at Stratton. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great little place to stop. We had breakfast which was delicious and bought some sweets to go. This year we were able to stop for lunch. Their soups, sandwiches and sweets... More

Used to be that a good casual meal was hard to come by the small towns of Vermont , but no more. Each village has its hip, little eatery that serves fresh, thoughtful fare. The Moon Dog fits this bill for Chester, VT. Innovative cuisine, ample portions, and accommodating service. Yes, it's funky and off-putting to anyone used to Appleby's,... More

The coffee is bar none the best in town! Although the staff is sometimes too involved in their own private discussions they make up for it with the food and service with a smile. The prices fit what you get and the entire atmosphere is pleasant.

Pleasant stop on the way back south from Okemo. Moon Dog Cafe had wonderfully unique homespun versions of sandwiches such as a very thick and juicy meat loaf sandwich with horseradish on home baked lightly toasted bread and portobello and goat cheese sandwich on fresh sour dough. My daughter had a scrumptious apple and brie sandwich. Their maple bread pudding... More

This was an absolute gem on the tail end of a cold, blustery, wintry ski weekend. On our way back from Stratton we stopped here in desperate need of food and warmth. We found the food, and the warmth came to us through the excellent meatloaf sandwiches, soup, and herbal teas that fought off our chill despite the poor insulation.... More

The meatloaf sandwich spoke to me with the words of a god. When I first saw it I felt unequal to the task, but its dulcet tones and meatloafy chunkiness lulled me into nirvana. Upon completion of my task I found myself stunned, sitting at the cafe, staring off into space, convinced that I only dreamed it all.

I happened upon the Moon Dog Cafe after missing my turn to go up to Okemo, and I'm so glad I did. The food was really good and generous proportions. I had a chicken curry wrap and a hot chocolate made with real chocolate, YUM! The cafe is also an organic market and gift shop, so I also did a... More
