MacLaomainn's is a place we always try to visit whenever passing through Chester, VT. This is probably our fourth or fifth visit in 3 years. We have ALWAYS had an enjoyable meal. This time our waitress Ashley was wonderful. She really helped us decide on Lunch. The Chicken & Mushroom Pie was excellent as was the Fish pie. The ambiance... More

We went here for dinner on a ski weekend. Walking in with my son, it reminded me of a UK Pub with cool knic-knaks on the walls, lots of wood and some great basketball games on TV. The pub style menu had lots to choose from. From Soups to Nachos and Burgers to Bangers and Mashed. It was a fun... More

We were recommended to this great pub by an acquaintance and were not disappointed. We have eaten lots of haggis and this one ranks right up there with the best. Neaps and tatties were excellent, bangers and mash extremely good, nice British sausage, creamy potatoes. Try the Scotch egg which we got without salad and shared. It was almost as... More

We just finished dinner here, and after reading all off the reviews, we were excited to eat here. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. We ordered appetizers of nachos and French onion soup. The nachos were just that, nachos with melted cheese on top, nothing nothing special. The French onion soup was tasty, although lacking cheese. The burgers were very... More

Stopped here base on a good review on Urban Spoon and have since been here 4 times within the month as I now make it my regular stop when traveling to Vermont for work. I've had the potato skins, nachos, cabbage and sausage stew, and bangers and mash, all excellent. Its a real food pub good quality, and friendly atmosphere.... More

A "real" Scottish pub in the middle of Vermont? Yes, with its own wonderful back-story. Our waitress was friendly and her advice was very helpful, as the intriguing menu is full of Scottish dishes. I loved my stuffed mushrooms and my husband enjoyed his burger. Of course beer is the thing, but we both had wine and enjoyed that too.... More

We were staying at an Inn nearby and were looking for a bar to get a couple of drinks and watch the Olympics. It is a small little bar but very cozy. Very unique beer selection which was fun. We had already eaten dinner but saw they had a small dessert menu and decided to get ice cream sandwiches made... More

I've heard good things about this place from people around VT and on this site. Well, you've got to be kidding me! I was just there on Saturday evening, Feb 8th, 2014. This place is a dive, there are no good beers, the food was awful (at least what I had), and the service sucked! I usually do not knock... More

What a treat to find not only a good place to eat, but one that has an excellent beer selection. Belhaven on tap, Innis and Gunn, and many more. We stopped for a quick dinner on the way up on Friday. The place was full, and it is a bit crowded, but what a treat. I had the angus burger... More
