A good friend who is also exploring new places in northern Vermont recommended this restaurant. The food and service were very good, as was the range of menu choices and specials. The drawback, which I hope does not exist outside prime tourist season and school vacations, was the noise. The floors are wood and there is nothing to deaden sound.... More

Everything is fresh and delicious, although it tends to be a long wait for breakfast on the weekends.

I used to have Sunday brunch in this cosy place while I studied abroad at UVM. The food is fresh, tasty and the service is great. It's downtown Burlington and the location is really nice. I miss it!

stopped in for breakfast. of course it offers the traditional breakfast plates, but also has items not seen everywhere. i tried all three of the pancake choices and found the gingerbread to be the best. they even offer the recipe on their webpage. how friendly and convenient is that? good choice for breakfast and the staff were all working together... I had the cornbread French toast with rhubarb compote, butter, Vermont maple syrup, egg over easy, and applewood bacon, with Cranberry juice and coffee. Excellent. I probably don't need to say much more.

It's hard to think of a more pleasant place to start your day. This place boasts bright and cheery decor (without a hint of pretension), attentive service, good prices, and fantastic food! I enjoyed a fantastic southwest-style breakfast with a link of chorizo and extra cilantro on the side. It was perfect. Gluten-free needs are understood and honored.

Based on TA reviews we decided to try this café during our visit to Burlington. We were interested in lunch, but the breakfast menu did look wonderful for a future visit. I had "Lunch with Lauren" which was marinated mushrooms, freshly sautéed and seasoned spinach, griddled tomatoes with mac n cheese. The meal was delicious. Hubby had the Chile Rellano... More

Breakfast is my favorite meal. It's very important that the food be well-prepared, served hot, and not make me wait. We had all that at Penny Cluse Cafe AFTER finally getting into the restaurant. We did have to wait outside for about 20 minutes - but hey it was Saturday morning. Once seated there was good variety, the food was... More

My wife and I had lunch here two years ago and now it's our favorite lunch spot in Burlington! Then someone told us they were better know for their breakfast. So we tried their breakfast and sure enough it was amazing. Most items appear healthy. We love the Kale garlicky quesadilla, the cucumber salad and the warm orzo salad! A... More

Had a table of 3 adults and 4 children descend on Penny Cluse for breakfast and the overwhelming favorite was the blueberry pancakes followed by the french toast but the Penny Cluse plate with two eggs any style and biscuits in gravy was good but the herbs were overpowering. Great tasting coffee and friendly service make this a great place... More
