August First Bakery and Cafe is locally owned and has been serving great pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch since 2009. A true local favorite, located in a bright and open renovated industrial garage. A very Vermont experience with fresh and delicious food served by a friendly staff. Everything is made from scratch! Croissants, scones, muffins, Koiugn Amann, healthy soups and salads.

Never disappoints.

I only wish my visits to Vermont were more often so I could frequent this great spot. Perhaps I need to relocate. Okay, that's a bit much, but what a terrific vibe in this reliable bakery/cafe and coffee shop. The offerings on the shelf are delectable- this trip I opted for the Walnut Chocolate... read more

Tasty little baked goods come out of this place. We went this winter but I'm so eager to stop back this summer and stroll about the area, sit down at a little cafe table, and enjoy some baked goods and coffee there during a downtown visit in nice weather. Thank you-- we will definitely be back to try you out... More

This quaint old building houses some delicious food. It is more than a bakery and if you are vegetarian/vegan, you actually have a great selection. This place is perfect for a beautiful day - sit outside with your coffee and bakery good on a quiet side street. Take home lots because you will be reminiscing about your meal and want... More

I been here before and liked it, but never for breakfast. I loved my sandwich. Eggs, bacon and cheese on a hearty bun. Really really good.

I like this place. The bread is great. The baked goods are yummy. But the service is snotty and rude. So if you don't mind being treated like its a favor to help you, by all means, don't miss this place. My favorite thing about them, though, is the bicycle bread seller who rides around pulling a bike wagon all... More

Stumbled upon this great place after a business meeting. Needed breakfast. Opted for a breakfast sandwich made on multigrain bread. It was not your average breakfast sandwich. Decided I would bring home the maple biscuits to my family. Awesome!!! I don't eat bread unless it's really worth it. It was! I will return on my next trip.

For morning pastries, lunch salad in a bowl or bread to take home for dinner make sure to stop here. Easy, comfortable ambience and quality ingredients. This bakery is the best in Burlington.

Had a wonderful business lunch here in early September. It was a gorgeous day and the doors were wide open creating a great space. Coffee and baked goods were all delicious and service was very friendly!
