August First Bakery and Cafe is locally owned and has been serving great pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch since 2009. A true local favorite, located in a bright and open renovated industrial garage. A very Vermont experience with fresh and delicious food served by a friendly staff. Everything is made from scratch! Croissants, scones, muffins, Koiugn Amann, healthy soups and salads.

Cozy atmosphere on a rainy day.

The scones are great! This is a really nice, cozy coffee shop with a good selection of baked goods. The coffee prices are a little pricey but standard for Burlington I think. Everything came out in a timely manner even though it was pretty crowded.

This is a one of a kind place. They offer breakfast items and sandwich items. Very friendly waitstaff and very crowded. They do not allow laptops. Fun place for a quick eat.

Flies all over the baked goods, too much cinnamon in the chai latte! The best part of this place was the building it's in. Scone was just ok, served cold no butter, staff was ok, service was just ok. Very pricey for what you get.

It's so hard to decide what to order because everything looks delicious. Have yet to be disappointed though, since everything has been delicious. Perfect place for breakfast or takeaway.

I love the quirkiness of this place -- a sign near the cash register declares that it is a laptop-free bakery. In another corner is a small library of books for guests to peruse. The food is also great. The blueberry muffin is excellent -- the texture is much richer than your average muffin, and the blueberries were plentiful and... More

Don't pass this up; I have been on the planet 52 years and have had plenty of lobster rolls over the years. August First serves the best lobster roll ever. Okay, once you order you are going to receive a grilled bun that is as soft as a hot pretzel. Ever had a lobster role on a bun that would... More

Cute bakery tucked away on a side street. Good selection of tea and coffee. Amazing baked goods. Truly one of the best blueberry muffins I have ever had. Full of fresh blueberries and so moist. It was hard to resist all of the choices. Will come back next time I am in town.

Cute place to have lunch, inside and outside tables in downtown. The ham & brie sandwich was large enough to spllt & the mushroom soup was delicious. Lots of interesting choices.
