I find it incredibly hard to find really good coffee when traveling. My go to is either a red eye or a double latte in a SMALL cup (not drown by milk), made with freshly ground, earthy tasting, beans. BULLS EYE at Mocha Joe. And the homemade sour cream coffee cake was every bit as good. If you like good... More

Coffee is best around, food average, you'll pay for the coffee but if you need your fix and willing to pay you will not be disappointed with their coffee bar.

Mocha Joe's has been serving up coffee, chai, and other 'Barista'-type drinks in Brattleboro for years. They're located in a tiny former shoe repair shop on the ground floor of 82 Main Street, just up the street from Sam's Outdoor Store. When you walk in this place, you'll immediately feel the good vibes of people meeting friends, talking, playing board... More

They make a great cuppa, and are open early on Sundays - a real plus as most of the other places in town seem to get a later start. The baked goods are lovely - esp the scones made by Andy! - but they only do sweet, no savory. The atmosphere is dark and sub-terrainian. This might be good in... More

I am always very weary when I visit the States, because unlike in many parts of Europe and Australia, the coffee is not always very good. I spent 8 days in Brattleboro and had a daily shot of different coffees here. However I most favoured the macchiato. One of the things that amused me was the toilet decoration. Have a... More

I get the local hippie vibe: Vermont is known for this ethos, right? However, if you are in food service, showering might be a good idea...or at least combing your hair neatly. The barefoot counter person was something I questioned where safety and sanitation are concerned. I'm not sure that is legal.

After rejecting the hotel brown water that pretends to be coffee, I found Mocha Joe. They know how to make a good cup of cappuccino--strong with a proper amount of foam on top. I wish that Brattleboro would offer a soy alternative for us lactose intolerant folks. Almond milk, coconut milk (and delicious coconut creamer) is widely available. I don't... More

This place has a nice casual feel. The staff were friendly and hte coffee was very good. They only had one type of coffee cake to offer in the way of food, but we came in the late afternoon, so maybe they have more at other times of the day.

So adorable this subterranean coffee shop. They are great roasters and serve up a great cup of java. I love wearing my Mocha Joe's tee shirt (unbelievable logo) when I travel 'cause every once in a while some other addict comes up to me and we relate on a level hard to explain. I have driven 100 miles out of... More

Amazing coffee, roasted right down the street. I gave it four stars because the place is small and very few places to sit at. Also little place to stand too. I know it is their location but it does lead to frustration if your with two kids and end up standing on stairs in line.
