Worth the wait for a special night

Three things I have known about TJ Buckley's for as long as I've lived in Vermont: the place is tiny, the food excellent and the cost pricey. And for some reason I've never found the right occasion to try it. The right occasion arrived and friends joined us to celebrate our daughter's 20th. The... read more

Having eaten here 3 times over the last eight years, there's a certain fondness for the experience. Three times over EIGHT YEARS; where's the emphasis you ask. Well the problem isn't the setting, the service, or the food. Every time it's been very good. It's just the total for the tariff, tax, and tip, that gets me to question, was... More

In honour of Sarah Buckley, our daughter's childhood best-friend, our family of four decided to go out to T.J.Buckley's for an intimate meal, a kind of paradox: cozy in public. An 8 table converted dining car with a kitchen right there for all to see, like at home, with a staff of three, a waitress, and an assistant, and one... More

I must say I was surprised to find this gem in Brattleboro. The experience is so intimate and while you can watch your dinner being prepped, the dining area is so warm and unique I didn't notice as much of the cook as one would thought. Everything was so fresh and tasty, it did remind me of eating in a... More

Don't get me wrong, most of the dinner was delicious. But I ordered scallops since they are very difficult to cook well and over cook easily. Everything else was delicious but they did in fact over cook the scallops a little so they lost that sweetness one tastes when they are cooked perfectly.

If budget weren't a consideration, I would dine here once a week. Michael and his staff create an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is romantic, the service is perfect and the beautifully presented dishes are both creative and delicious. Favorite restaurant in Vermont.

My wife and I dined at T.J. Buckley’s for the third time tonight. As was the case in each of the previous instances, the experience was exceptional. Enough has already been written in other reviews, but let me reiterate some of the basics. T.J. Buckley’s is an intimate chef-owned restaurant. It is located in a vintage dining car, with 7... More

This restaurant will give you a very unique experience!! With only seven tables and an open kitchen to view all the prep work - is great!! The server was phenomenal - I don't think I've ever had better!! She recited the menu to perfection, was attentive the entire time, and was also very pleasant. I had the scallops which were... More

Certainly a quirky restaurant, which is worth a try. It's the only restaurant we have been to where the menu has no prices. Maybe they thought that someone else was paying, so we both had the 'no prices' menu. That was scotched when the bill arrived! Anywhere else, or if we had been on a budget, I would have asked...
