It was a very cold February night when the wife and I decided to have a meal here w=I was not expecting much but that soon changed. The doors opened and we were met by the smell and warmth of an open log fire. The restaurant was not overly full and we had a seat near the fire very cosy.... More

Well, I read the reviews and wasn't going to go because of the negative reports. I decided to give it a try when I was told by the front desk that it was under new ownership and that hotel guests got a 10% discount. I mentioned this to the woman who seated us and was told it was no longer... More

The food is delicious albeit on the pricey side. For example, the Tavern's black angus burger is absolutely the best burger I've ever tasted. At $11, however, I would "settle" for a Wendy's burger if the mood me struck on a "normal" night. We enjoyed a lovely ambiance, with the wood burning fireplace roaring behind me and an abundance of... More

We came off the mountain and were ravenous, so we decided to try out the "big city" Brattleborough and right there on Rte 5 is TheTavern inside the Colonial Motel. This is a place that is so warm and cozy it felt like home. Two rooms and fireplaces. Our waitress was great- knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful in... More

The specials are wonderful here and the drinks are great! Every time I go, I try a new special. I especially love the bread and olives appetizer! Perfect. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. Not too much seating, but I have never had to wait.

This place was just adorable. Beautiful lit wood-burning fireplace in the bar where we were served. Staff was very nice, drinks and food were excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I can only imagine how cozy it must be with a couple of feet of snow on the ground outside!

We recently passed through Brattleboro this summer on our way to northern Vermont and thought we would try The Tavern Restaurant for an early dinner as we planned to continue on the road after eating. We were seated in the bar area which has about 10 or so tables. The room has a nice feel and the atmosphere was OK,... More

Okay, the atmosphere is nice here, a little bistro with a lovely copper-clad bar and fewer than ten tables. The food is good here but not great. My wife's steak salad had fresh greens but the cut of steak was absurdly tough; hanger steak on a salad? seriously? My burger and fries was good. But at the prices being asked... More

We ate there a few days ago and the pizza was very good. We also had frenh fries, unfortunately we found the french fries to be soggy and cold. The Caesar salad priced at $14 was bland and beyond average. On the service, our waitress was attentive however at times she became intrusive and failed to recognize social cues that... More
