This was my first time at this restaurant and I wasn't impressed at all. We had to ask for everything from just basic silverware, to ketchup, refills to steak knives for our steaks, ( I will get to the steaks in a bit). The waitress seemed very nice but kind of flustered ( place didn't seem all that busy) and... More

We live in town and have seen the many incarnations of this restaurant. This incarnation is mediocre. We started out with the calamari which was just average. My main course was the steak and shrimp scampi. The steak was okay, but the scampi lacked zing. My husband ordered the NY Sirloin with the fried tobacco onions and a brown sauce.... More

World class food and great service brought smiles to me and my family after a long day with miles to go on our trip. I travel to the seacoast often and have eaten shrimp cocktail at every seafood restaurant on the NH coast. The shrimp cocktail at The New England House is by far the best i've had, and leaves... Under its previous ownership we always found this restaurant average or slightly below. Food was of average price and value -- never the best option in town, never horrible. Service was slow but friendly. Back then, a solid "3" on the Trip Adviser scale. Under its new ownership the New England House has slipped badly. Service is very slow and... More

Thank you for your review. All reviews good or bad are an opportunity for us to ever improve upon our goals of great food and friendly efficient service. With the recent positive reviews we were surprised to understand that your complaint was based on the fact that we did not serve nachos made with food colored chips and that your... More

If you're looking for the Top Five Star restaurant this is the place! Great atmosphere and variety of surf and turf.

We were driving by looking for restaurants and found positive reviews online so we pulled in. We are so glad we did! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is rustic. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and attentive. Two of us ordered the ravioli with vodka sauce and a balsamic reduction and two others ordered a seafood dish and... More

On Sunday April 12 around 8 at night or 1 hour before closing my girlfriend and I went to have dinner at the New England house . After having 3 previous visits here and having steak on every visit and finding my filet mignon excellent and cooked by the chef himself we were disappointed to get the same meal less... More

My wife and I were in town for one evening and saw an ad for this restaurant. The ad claimed “best steak in town” with a casual dining atmosphere. Since this is the only place we ate in town I can’t attest to it being the best in Brattleboro, but it was definitely one of the best steaks I have... More

Our first experience dining here after passing by often and reading an article in the local paper. We didn't make a reservation, but now know that we can. There were couples and families; children of various ages (all well behaved, I might add). Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. We ordered a mussel appetizer from the daily specials menu... We dined here while staying in Brattleboro for a ski weekend. The atmosphere was rustic, colonial, tavernish - cozy and casual. (There was some renovation going on in the entrance area, but the dining area was comfortable and attractive.) Tables are arranged in a large room around a central bar; spacing was good for conversation. There were TVs hanging from... More
