Good food but a ramshackle of a place

Poor Bennington. There's not a lot going for this tiny town, I can't imagine what the students of the college do with all their spare time. Anyway, Pangaea; nice food, quite small, surprisingly expensive for what you get but otherwise a good find. Not much from the outside so doesn't look... read more

The food and service were excellent. They had an extensive wine list and some very good Vermont beers.

We ate at Pangea four years ago, but could only eat in the bar as the restaurant was being used for a private function. This time we opted for the fine dining restaurant. We had been trvelling modt of the day so opted for (by American standards) a late dinner at 7.30. It was a horrible snowy night and when... More

Pangaea is a good choice for dinner - and a cut way above other local choices. I had dinner in the "lounge" - in part because the menu has more selections on it but also because I couldn't quite understand why the restaurant has NYC prices in southern Vermont (its not like they are paying West Village rent, after all).... We had a group of 8 in the main restaurant. The food and service were excellent with one exception. Our waiter put on a show but at the same time way overserved us with wine and specialty water which really ran up our bill. Watch out for this and you will do very well here.

We had a lovely meal at the bistro...not the fine dining next door, but we found the food lovely, and plenty of it. We had no booking but we were served quickly and efficiently. As it was steps away from where we stayed at Eddington House B and b , it was very convienient.

We were looking for a relaxed venue and found it at Pangaea. We opted for "lounge" as opposed to the main dining area for the ambience and the menu choices. We arrived early and were promptly seated. From the start, things seemed to be mislabeled , starting with the lounge. It is not really a lounge, but it was just... More

We arrived late in the evening after a long drive from western Pennsylvania. We were pleased to find a casual, relaxing venue within walking distance from our B&B. The service in the lounge was excellent. Our dinners were very good with ample servings.

We came in with no reservation just before 9pm on a Thursday night for a dinner in the lounge. Sat at the high tables and got excellent service -- I think they kept the kitchen open for us for which we were grateful. Beet salad, carb cake, Thai noodles, and a burger at our table -- all delicious! Quiet atmosphere... More

We heard this place was a winner so we gave it a try while visiting my daughter a few weeks ago, and it was truly awful. We had made reservations in advance anticipating a busy weekend in town, and the place was packed and apparently the chef was under schooled. We dined in the more casual lounge and were forced...
