Description: The Madison family has deep roots in the Bennington, Vermont. As locals...
The Madison family has deep roots in the Bennington, Vermont. As locals growing up and living in the area, the Madison's have deep ties to the community and in the early 1990's the family decided to purchase what was then a burned out storefront in Bennington's historic downtown, and convert it into the area's first brew pub. "My brother Mark was part of the inspiration" says co-owner Mel Madison. "He become passionate about brewing beer as a hobby... And that let us to the idea of starting a brew pub." From those humble beginnings, the brewery has developed six regular brews plus a seasonal brew. To complement the brewing is the lunch and dinner offerings as well as Madison's own home-made chips - a favorite at the bar or anyplace. Now into its second decade of operation, the brew pub has become a Bennington fixture and a favorite amongst the locals. We encourage you to stop in and discover for yourself everything Madison's Brewing Company has to offer!

Awesome food and beer!

My partner and I got the beer sampler- which is very generous given the 8 or 9 varieties they have- and the Rachel and Beer Brats. The food and beer were all awesome. The Rachel, essentially a Ruben with pastrami rather than corned beef, was one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've had in my life... read more

We tried the brown ale - blah - the IPA - OK, and a Cider - Blah. Luckily we were there primarily for dinner, and the food was outstanding. I had the chili and delicious

Very nice and refreshing hard cider. The food is great! We all got something different and there were no complaints. I recommend either the pork schnitzel, pub burger (best bacon ever), cottage pie or ahi tuna salad. All delicious.

Bacon and cider sounds like the perfect combination to us -- thanks for enjoying a meal with us while you were in Bennington. It sounds like you and your group really enjoyed yourselves, so we hope you'll make it back in sometime soon! Cheers, Madison Brewing More

You can't have a good beer without chasing it with some great brats! Thanks to both of you for stopping by and trying us out while you were in the area -- it sounds like your first impression was a good one! We're big fans of the Rachel, too. We really hope to have you back in the next time... More

After visiting the Bennington Museum and lovely stores and antique shops over to the Madison Brewing Co. For our second visit. The small small town friendliness, quick seating, efficient staff and fun atmosphere. I felt like a native Vermonter. Lunch was quick, deeelicious and reasonable. I'm sold and we don't even drink beer! Coming here our next visit.

We were in Bennington for an overnight recently and had dinner here. Fairly good beer selection on tap. Busy place but we were able to sit at the bar while waiting for our table(20 minutes). We had the best calamari ever! It was crispy, not a crumbly coating, or greasy. Great marinara and spicy sauce also. The burger and sweet... More

We're glad you chose to spend your one night in town with us, Patty! Our calamari is definitely one of our more popular items, so we appreciate you checking it out -- it sounds like you may not be around for a while, but we hope you'll stop by for that (and some beer) again sometime! Did not eat a full meal but the beer choices for a small town brewery was extremely impressive. Got the garlic Parmesan wings. They were good, not great. Excited to go back for full meal

We've gotta say, we're happy you enjoyed our beer selection! Keep an eye out for changes the next time you're in -- we love to mix it up with what we're offering, so we'll probably have some new things to try. Sorry to hear you didn't love the wings, but we're confident we've got some things on the full menu... More

Our innkeeper at the South Shire Inn recommended this brew pub which was just a short walk away. I am a huge fan of fish and chips and I usually try them when I find them on the menu. They were on the menu and quite excellent here. The beer was also most enjoyable. We returned a second time during... More

We're so glad that the innkeeper sent you our way, George -- thanks for giving us a try! We know how tough it can be to find fish and chips you really love, so it's nice to hear ours impressed you. Whenever you're back in the area from Texas, we hope you'll look us up again! Cheers, Madison Brewing More

We stopped here as part of our Vermont Beer Trail and sampled all of the draft beers for the day. They offer a large variety to suit every taste bud. We also shared an order of fish and chips, which was very tasty. Instead of heavy breading, it had a nice crunchy outside which we all enjoyed.

When you're a fan of fish and chips, getting it just how you like can be tough -- it sounds like it was a hit, though! Glad we could be a stop on your Vermont Beer Trail, and I hope that sometime you'll make it back out to enjoy some more food with us. We're always changing up our beer... More

We were there on a Sunday night so it was a quiet dinner. Downtown Bennington was empty, plenty of on-street parking. We had Fish & Chips and salad with a crisp Pinot Grigio and a Burger with Swiss and salad. We were offered both ketchup and malt vinegar for the fries, and sea-salt and pepper on the table. All done... More

Stopped in for dinner on Saturday night. Expected very good pub food, as we have had before. What we got was an excellent meal. I had the Vermont Chicken. She had Theresa's Awesome Caprese Burger. Both dishes were waaaay beyond "good pub food". They were really different and outstanding. Comfortable and interesting decor. Good friendly service in a relaxed setting.... More
