I chose this restaurant because of the reviews. We were very disappointed with the food. The fish and chips were rather greasy, the fried scallops had too much breading and the fish tacos only had cole slaw and salsa on the side. Not worth the money we spent on the food. I would not recommend this restaurant after our experience.

We had lunch here yesterday. It was a very hot day and were happy to discover that this little place is more than the take away chipper it looks like from the outside. It was nicely air conditioned and had seating for about 20. The real star of this place, though, is the food. We both had fish and chips... More

We had a delicious lunch at Lil Britain while visiting Bennington. It is a very small storefront with 7 or 8 tables. No frills but the food was very good. I had the small fish and chips while my husband had the fried clams. We both chose the cole slaw as our side dish. Everything was delicious. The fish was... More

I can't speak to the authenticity of the food, but certainly can say it was really good. The chips needed a little more flavor for my taste, however, the malt vinegar certainly did the trick. I had the friend clams, and have to say they were excellent. Very tender! The cocktail sauce must have been homemade... certainly didn't taste like... More

Lil Britian is a hidden gem! We found it a few years back and boy do we wish we lived closer. True British style chippy shop in the heart of Bennington. The owners are wonderful and friendly. Being from England this chip shop brings me back to my homeland. Proper Fish and Chips, pies, sweets - this place has it... More

We've been eating at Lil Britain since they opened several years ago. The owners are charming British emigres, who have a deep appreciation for the dear old British chippy. We're rabid Anglophiles, who often frequent chip shops when we travel in the UK, and Lil Brit (as they're affectionately known in our house) really nails that delightful traditional food. The... I have had lots of fish and french fries over the years, but the authentic British fish and chips served here ranks as some of the very bests I have had anywhere. We stopped in not long before closing, but were warmly greeted and our fish was ready in short order. It was very fresh and thick cut and a... More

After reading the trip advisor reviews I stopped here on a recent trip. I've never been to England but I can say they have the best fish and chips I've ever had. The interior is not much to look at. I really wish it was a casual restaurant instead of fast food take out. But either way the food is... More

Been through Bennington many times but missed this gem until today. Fish was good and the steak pie was excellent. Chips were a good mix of English crisp v soggy. Gravy for the pie was as near as you can get to UK chippy gravy. Nice to see curry, bangers and chip buttys on the menu. Now I know it's... More

I have worked for an English couple for years and they have tought me all about there home cuisine, and I have tried all of it. When I found out about this place I was very excited.I went there and tried a few different dishes, and I must say I was very pleased with the food. The decor is great... More
