Dined here with a large group from my ski club for dinner. The service was a bit frenetic with server darting among our four tables taking a few orders then taking off but coming back eventually for other orders. FIRST one caution for groups, they will NOT DO SEPARATE CHECKS. Only one check per table. SECOND caution, THIS PLACE IS... More

This place is best used for a funky but fun atmosphere. Stick to the steaks and potato part of the menu - parts of it were woefully over engineered. If you are staying in Alta/Snowbird this is probably one of your best bets. Make a redo and get there early. People tend to park themselves and do some serious drinking.... More

We went to shallow shaft after a long day skiing and snowboarding. The food was by far the best we had in the canyon. The waiters were knowlegable and very friendly. Had the short rib, and the mushroom papardelle. Both were tasty and well balanced. Would definitely recommend if you are at Snowbird or Alta.

With fond memories of prior visit in 2009 and with all the 5 star reviews, I was approaching this trip with trepidation of high expectations; I was not disappointed at all. A unique genuine décor that cannot be duplicated with distinct casual milieu created a welcome atmosphere. Our server admitted to being a bit stretched; such is life: I reassured... More

Had dinner here last night with my partner. Food was all lovely. We had the cheese platter to start followed by the Cod and Lamb T-bone. We them had blood orange sorbet to share which was delicious. The food was all very tasty. Only thing I would comment on would be the service. We were made to feel great to... More

After a long day of skiing, I felt like having something a little more gourmet than average, so I convinced the hubby to drive us from our hotel back up the dark, long, winding mountain road. It was worth it . . . well, ... actually, when we arrived the greeter assumed we wanted food to go (not sure why... More

The food here was phenomenal. Truly delicious and unique for a ski area in my opinion. The only thing I wish could have been different was the seating. We sat in a booth and it was very hard to get into and felt a little tight. If you can request to sit at a table and not a booth it... More

I had the most delicious meal of my week long stay at snowbird. I do wish the prices were more reasonable. In all fairness though the prices are not out of line with the restaurants at snowbird or Alta.

I visited Shallow Shaft following my read of positive tripadvisor reviews and my desire to find a mountain alternative. It was a short taxi ride out of snowbird into Alta. The restaurant is located in an old woody lodge which had a warm feel to it. The food was tasty and the service was impeccable. I went for the ribs... More
