Good Place to Visit with Friends

I've been to Mac Cool's twice when in the area on business. Both times I was able to meet up with old friends, eat dinner, have a beer, and visit. I was fully satisfied with the food and service. There is a good selection of beer and food to choose from on the menu. I had the corned beef and... read more

I went here with some friends one night. My friends sampled the local brew and thought it was good. I found the food to be pretty good. My only complaint was that the corned beef and cabbage was swimming in a pool at least an inch deep of water. That's a little too much for my tastes. The food quality... More

I had the Guinness stew and the boyfriend had the classic sheppard's pie. Both were totally delicious, and the portions weren't too big, like most restaurants in America. It was the perfect amount. After dinner, we both remarked that this was the best meal we've had since we got to Layton. We ordered the chocolate cake for dessert which was... More

Had a good first experience with uniquely Irish food at MacCools. Unfortunately they didn't hold up. Wife's corned beef sandwich came with dried out - she felt "old" meat in the sandwich. Fries were cold on delivery. I ordered a Tuna Melt which was anything but. came un-melted. It was a cold tuna sandwich nothing more, and the bread was... More

Went here for New years eve. Was able to get a table without issue. Staff is always very friendly here. Food was great as always. Have eaten here many times and it's always been great.

It has an average brew-bub style atmosphere. They serve, what I might consider, pretty authentic Irish cuisine. Lots of my friends and people I know seem to enjoy the food more than I. Not saying it's bad, just different from what I am used to. The tables and chairs are all unique so if for nothing else, go check it... More

The staff is extremely friendly and makes you feel like returning family. They truly reflect the owner’s values of good food and spirits at a reasonable price. The dinning atmosphere is warm, inviting and one you will have fond memories for a long time to come. If I can offer one suggestion, you must try the Buffalo Sheppard Stew and... More

Took a friend here, and found the service to be very friendly. Each of the three of us had different entrees - lamb shank, trout salad, and open faced turkey sandwich. We all enjoyed our meals, and they were generous portions. Fast service, as they were not at all busy. Close to several motels, like Hilton Garden inn and Hampton... More

Nice service staff, good food. I like the ambiance overall. The booths and chairs are starting to show wear and tear from all the customers over the years.

MacCool's has the feeling of long-time friendship….and the quirks that go with it. It is my favorite local place. The food is predictable pub food with a few surprises - expect tasty, high calorie and satisfying. Their staff is always friendly, sometimes a little busy - but always responsive. Questions are attended quickly by the mgrs. who are very knowledgable... More
