Description: The Chuckwagon Cookout has been serving the best Chuckwagon lunches and...
The Chuckwagon Cookout has been serving the best Chuckwagon lunches and dinners for over 20 years. Thanks to our audience participation show, How The West Was Lost, we've been serving up this great food with a healthy dose of pure unadulterated fun.

At the Chuckwagon Cookout we've changed with the times, returning to traditional frontier recipes with some modern twists. We use only coconut oil in preparing our potatoes, beans and cobbler, only gluten free ingredients in all our sauces and gravies and only natural spices for the Roast Beef that are gluten, MSG & soy free. Our beef is slow cooked in German Clay pots to retain flavor and moisture in a natural and safe cooking vessel. We even have a Natural Beef option for select tours. We serve Micro brew on tap, bottled beer and house Cabernet and Chablis.
In our restaurant you can actually pronounce all of the ingredients. They're all natural and unprocessed.

The Chuckwagon is on the grounds of the Little Hollywood Movie Museum so we're more than food & entertainment. We're also a cultural destination where you will learn a little something about Kanab became Little Hollywood. We have Real sets from the Reel West.

Isn't What It Used To Be

We have brought tour groups here for a number of years. They have the space and can do a decent buffet. The food is fair, but it seems there is less to choose from. The employees are not overly friendly when serving up the grub, or filling drink orders. A couple of them never cracked a smile. The... read more

We were on a tour and were the only customers. Buffet reminded us of a church supper at a restaurant you won't attend. Greasy, fatty meat, cold sides from an unheated buffet table. Weird drink policy of no table service for beer. (This may be a Utah law, though. ) For no apparent reason, you get a ratty cowboy hat... More

While we always strive to give our customers both a fun time and good hearty food, there’s no pleasing some people. And we certainly didn’t satisfy this gentleman. It’s true that the buffet line for buses is unheated but that’s because the food is cooked to order and served only when the customers are lined up to take as much... More

I am sorry to hear that you found the staff less than cheery. It's a constant issue that all of us around here contend with. It's made harder by the fact that our prices include tips, so the staff doesn't have their livelihood rely on smiles. We keep trying to find happy people and have them go through consistent training.... More

Went to lunch with business group. Good portions, a little pricey, not enough staff. The potatoes were too peppery. The meat was fatty. The deserts were okay. The salad wasn't a thing special.

Visited here with a tour, around 45 of us in all. They were expecting us and we paid 17 dollars each (not the 15 stated on the website?!). We are sure it would have been more fun if we had done the dressing up as soon as we arrived, but we sat in a drab canteen room for over half... More

I'm sorry the Valient's didn't have a good experience at our Chuckwagon. Sometimes when we get very busy, there is a wait but we always strive to provide an entertaining time for all of our guests. This is an all you can eat buffet where the customer serves up all items except the beef - so if portions were skimpy... More

Chuck wagon cookouts put on a western cookout and "movie shoot" for our bus group of 30. It was great fun. They dressed us up as pioneers, cowboys, saloon girls, gamblers, Indians, cavalry, and even coyotes. It was hilarious. Then we had the chuck wagon dinner, which was quite good. If you're looking for 5 star dining in a romantic... More

As an english man visiting the south west of America I was looking for meat, covered in cheese and BBQ sauce while a man in a cowboy hat sung songs with people line dancing.. We found it here. When the hardest question to answer in brisket or ribs, you know you're in the right place.

I had a Breakfast and a Dinner catered by Chuckwagon Cookouts. Breakfast was good but dinner was better. We were eating outdoors on a windy day--rather challenging!

We had a wonderful time there, thank you Tony and family. My group enjoyed the diner and the western adventure with you. Food is perfect: simple, home made and super delicious. Thank you for the superb experience!

I went to this restaurant with a " Road Scholar" group. We were told at the restaurant that many Western movies were filmed in Kanab and there were old props on display. Also we staged a Western scene ourselves, with Indians, Bar Maids, a good guy with a white hat and the bad guy with the black hat. It was... More
