Busy Place

Our party of four stayed at the Whispering Sands next door. Stan's was close enough to walk to. It's attached to a gas station/quick mart, which draws the boating crowd from Lake Powell. When we walked in the place was nearly full with families. We ordered hamburgers and fries with shakes! The... read more

If you happen to know where on Earth, Hanksville (UT) is, a tiny town with merely 200 souls, you probably know about Stan's Burger Shack. And if you don't then you should. If you travel across the desolate area between Canyonlands and Capitol Reef National Parks, or you are on route to Lake Powell, Hankswille is one place where you... More

In the middle of nowhere we were really hungry. So glad we stopped here since there wasn't food for miles afterwards. Not much to look at from the outside, but inside was very nice. A extensive "fast food" menu, which seemed to be made fresh was found. But their famous shakes you needed to eat with a spoon. I had... More

Understanding that Hanksville is a tiny oasis in the middle of some very inhospitable country, with many, many miles until the next outposts of civilization, it nevertheless offers some genuine pleasantries. Stan's Burger Shack offers a great "Stans burger" that, with the jalapeno option, is a savory combination of savory and sweet. I plan to have another next year on... More

My wife had the fish & chips. The fish was so overcooked that they were dark brown. She couldn't eat them. I had the chicken tenders which weren't anything special but at least weren't overcooked.

Above average fast food place. The burgers are made with free-range beef. Nothing fancy, hard seat booths, cute sayings on the walls, very friendly service. The milkshakes are outstanding! Like a blizzard, you have to eat it with a spoon. You won't go wrong stopping here. It is located at the gas station on the main road.

I have had a milkshake from Stan's on three separate occasions. They are awesome! However, their shakes are more like a blizzard. You have to eat them with a spoon. They have a small and a large. The large is super huge! I could not eat all of it. Whichever size you get the shake is sticking about two inches... More

Hardshell seat booths ala fast food, but comfortable. Clean, open and well-lighted. Big. The burgers are better than typical fast food but not gourmet. The fries are excellent -- the crispy outside soft inside type. The milkshakes taste good and are heavy: a small one will be adequate for most humans. Nice, surprisingly well stocked store next door. For a... More

My husband and I ordered hamburgers with cheese. We expected to have an ordinary hamburger. After our first bite we knew there was something special about this place. They were the best hamburgers we've ever had. When we talked to one of the employees about it, she informed us that it was local, free-range beef. Well, there is a lot... More
