We enjoyed the BBQ and glad we stopped in at the Tourist Information to find out about it. Folks at Mae's were very friendly

Not great BBQ. We've eaten here on vacations at least once a year for 7 years. It's ok, not great. Seems like it went down a bit on this last visit. Really liked the bbq stuffed baked potato in the past.

We were out exploring The Hill Country when hunger set in and we began to search for a place to eat. I'm not quite sure why we stopped here, but we did. Now I freely admit, I'm not a Texan so I am not an authority on Texas BBQ. But the four of us agreed unanimously that the food here... More

The owner's grandmother started this business in Downtown Wimberly and he has done a good job of keeping it alive. The atmosphere is "Rustic Texan". The barbecue was outstanding! Potato Salad was a little dry - but the barbecue more than made up for it. They don't serve beer :(

There are several "legendary" BBQ's in the Hill country. That and the fact that most Texas guys are BBQ legends in their own minds make it hard for a 'just real good' local place to survive much less thrive. Miss Maes has very good food, pleasant folks serving you an unpretentious atmosphere and good prices. I am a Wimberley local... More

The BBQ is pretty good, the sausage is not. The prices seem pretty high but that's so often the case in a small town. The choices for sides aren't great, but that's so often true of BBQ places, too.

When I go, there are always locals there who eat there often. There is counter service so getting food is quick.

If you are a tourist and you want Bar-B-Q you absolutely must avoid this place. Locals don't eat here (I asked). The food is no-star and the owner was not so nice. Fact: the meat appears to be overcooked over a fire with little logs overnight. The bark is still on the logs and that is not so good. The... More

After two visits to the place, there will definitely not be a third. My last visit was far from satisfactory. The rib plate was very disappointing because the ribs were cold, dry, tough, and lacked character. They appeared to be grilled instead of truly barbecued. One of the slices of bread that I was given was a heel! The potato... More
