Part of a religious organization, the Homestead Heritage complex is both controversial and geographically distant from Waco - 7 miles out of town into the country and down a small side road. Built into a rustic cabin, this restaurant has extremely limited hours and opens at 10 and closes by 6 pm. This is a soup and sandwich place that... More

I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Every time I try out something different and the variety is nice also. On my first trip I ate too much and too fast and did not make room for their ice cream. I have not made that error again. <G>

Traveling through and stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is down a little country road in a sustainable homestead community. Wonderful, gentle, friendly staff and excellent service even during a busy lunch hour. The chicken sandwich and fresh salad with homemade dressing were absolutely delicious, and the homemade coconut ice cream was the best dessert I've had in a long... More

This was our first visit. Extremely clean place. Staff is so nice. No wait time. The breakfast was very good. There were no clanging of dishes. No residue on the flatware or glasses. This is a true gem. We will definitely be going back. They do not serve pork. The turkey bacon was a great substitute.

I have lived in Waco for the 9 years and still find this place the BEST in town. The food is outstanding and the location is great for visitors no matter where you are from. All foods are fresh, service is excellent and there are many things to see. Anytime I have friends come to visit, this is always on... More

Basically it's a soup, salad, sandwhich and burger place that use locally sourced organic ingredients. Menu selection is average, like a typical sandwich and burger shop. However, it's a long drive from center of the town. We came on a Friday for lunch, and waited more than 30 minutes for a table, because there were lots of people and the... More

Hello JPDallas, Thank you for taking the time to tell us how we're doing. I am sorry that your experience was so disappointing. As you can see from our previous reviews, your experience was definitely not typical. Please give us another try (unannounced of course) and see if, even for a sandwich and burger joint, we couldn't provide you with... More

We ate here 2 years ago, and made sure to return on our recent trip. We had lunch with kids, and all enjoyed our meal. The food is so fresh tasting and delicious. The servers are all delightful, and the price is fair for the quality you will get. While here, we stopped in to some of the shops (pottery,... More

Café Homestead is a wonderful restaurant. It is situated in an old reclaimed barn. The food is wonderful. They have daily specials and a few mainstays on the menu. The service is always great. Many of the items they use to prepare food are grown on the grounds of Homestead Heritage. If you do go out to the restaurant, make... More

This is a very charming and quaint, off the beaten path cafe that is assuredly worth the drive. This restaurant was casual and immaculately clean with delightful service with delicious, home made food. the carrot cake was truly the best I have ever had. I love this this yummy, humble cafe and will certainly be back!
