Close, but....

Cafe Homestead always serves a great meal, but that remark is based on what I perceive the Great American Diet to value, whether or not it might be truly nutritious. Portion sizes are very generous and everything is served fresh. However, if you are nutrition-conscious, you might be disappointed... read more

The Cafe Homestead is located on the grounds of the Homestead Heritage agricultural community. We went on a Saturday, and the wait for a table was about an hour. It was a beautiful day, though, and there are many buildings on the grounds to view. The Cafe texts you when your table is ready, and you have plenty of time... More

Nice place and people. There can be a wait, but luckily there is plenty to see and do there in the mean time.

For a rather mediocre meal served by young women who are constantly watched and who are unable to speak freely, this establishment is simply not worth the trouble. The service is excrutiatingly slow and the meals are very ordinary renditions of basic staples such as "chef salad" and "cheeseburger. Add a very ordinary bar b que plate, and you get... More

After reading reviews of this restaurant we decided to give it a try on our recent visit to Waco and to say it exceeded our expectations would be an understatement. Our lunch was really, really good (especially the sweet potato jalapeno soup) and the service was excellent. Except for the restaurant, we were not aware of all the history, attractions... More

My friend and I ate lunch here today after reading the all star reviews. Hmmmm...it was a good lunch. Good, but not 5 stars. We both had the Santa Fe salad which was good but nothing special. The cheese plate appetizer was better. The triple chocolate mousse pie was also good. Our server was polite. The experience was noteworthy in... More

We had great sandwiches on homemade bread, homemade queso and guacomole! Beautiful fire in the fireplace and warm and friendly people. I couldn't pass up the beautiful carrot cake, which was one of more than seven tempting desert selections. It was all great! We strolled around the grounds for over an hour afterwards as well since it is part of a... More

We were lucky to get a table quickly, and sampled everything from the cheese plate (they make their own cheese) as well as lunch (my husband has a reuben with homemade sauerkraut, yum!), I had a hamburger with grass fed beef - delish! Dessert was French Silk Chocolate Pie.....I'm still dreaming of that and homemade Maple Pecan ice cream -... More

Great place to meet a friend and relax while enjoying good homemade food. Sometimes there's a wait but the service is great and the nearby shops are fun to browse. Would recommend, especially for lunch.
