Looking up some Q places near our hotel in Waco, we settled on a restaurant (that wasn't open), so we hit Rudy's as a second-option. Rudy's is a chain, but even chain BBQ restaurants in Texas are better than what's available in my home town (Philly). Our experience at Rudy's was mixed. The hero of the meal, the proteins, were... Just about every time I drive from Austin to Dallas and back, I stop here as it is almost exactly mid-way. Gas up the car and get a sausage wrap on the way up and couple of ribs on the way home. The food is very good, maybe not world class, but hey, it is a gas station! Staff are... More

We go through Waco traveling from Victoria To Dallas. Have seen this restaurant for many years and FINALLY stopped. It comes by the pound. My friend got 1/3 lb and I got the sandwich. Both excellent. It is SO lean that it really does melt in your mouth. Then add the potato salad and cole slaw? Both were extremely good!... More

Yep, another chain, doesn't have ton's of offerings, but the flavor... so good! Best I've had in Waco so far, (although my favorite Rudy's will always be in Round Rock because their breakfast taco's are better) but I still have lots of places in Waco to try. Their brisket, sausage, potato salad, heck, even the sauce is perfect! If it... More

Rudy's meat is incredible. Very little fat, no "gristle", and it melts in your mouth. Want to feel like you have died and gone to BBQ Heaven? Douse it in their Rudy's Sauce. I wish it came in a tiny bottle so that I could take it with me everywhere. This sauce is the perfect blend of heat and flavor.... More

Living in Austin has its perks, including several Rudy's to select from. I've been to several in Austin (multiple times, of course), but have stopped at the Waco Rudy's a couple of times on trips to up to Dallas. The atmosphere is similar (although the servers aren't nearly as vocal and "fun") and the food is similar, but there's just... More

Went here with the extended family; and it was a great place for sitting with a group and having a good "catch up" chat. The food was barely okay. My meat had a lingering taste of something like Diesel Gasoline smells. The meat portion in my stuffed potato was stingy at best; there was not enough meat to mix in... More

I was in Waco on May 20-21 on business. My client recommended Rudy's for lunch. We had about a dozen people, and ordered a variety of food - brisket, pulled pork, ribs, cole slaw, beans, potatoes, sausage, and more. The sissy barbecue sauce was average, but the slightly hotter sauce was excellent. I tried everything, and there wasn't a bad... More

Depending on which of the Bar B Q items you pick, you might or might not enjoy your meal. My opinion, I don't like their sausage and their brisket at best is average. But based on the crowd, someone seems to like it.
