Just north of San Antonio, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country, sits the small community of Leon Springs. Founded in the 1800s by Max Aue, Leon Spring's cityscape changed when Max's son, Rudolph, opened a one-stop gas station, garage, and grocery store. Bar-B-Q was added to the operation in 1989, and Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q has been serving up tasty food ever since. The same original recipes that built Rudy's Leon Springs' reputation are now available throughout the Southwest. Our pits are 100% wood fired with oak, a slower burning wood than the mesquite used by others. Along with time and oak, we cook with a dry spice that ensures each plate of Rudy's Bar-B-Q is perfectly ready for you. Apply some of our famous "Sause" and dinner is served.

Good Meat!

Great counter service. Always plenty of people working and they actually smile when helping you. It's nice! The brisket, pork and turkey are terrific. I love the potato salad, cream corn and new potatoes. The one thing that's not my favorite is the sauce. I know that people have definite opinions... read more

A couple years ago, I would've given Rudy's a higher mark. For those comparing chain BBQ, Rudy's ranks pretty high. However, because I prefer Rudy's over Bill Miller, I've eaten to the point where I don't really look forward to it anymore. The Rudy's in Waco is the same format I've seen in the two stores I've seen in San... More

We tried brisket ribs pulled pork and jalapeno sausage with bean salad slaw and green chili soup and found everything to be just ok. The rib sausage were best of the bunch but the moist brisket was a bit tough. Their sauce was good but All in all the food was unremarkable but where was the smoke?

When we first arrived we were greeted quickly by the girl in the front and she was by far the best thing about this place. Everything was served by the half pound, pint, etc. We ordered 1 1/2 lbs of the moist brisket that we were told was the #1 seller, a pound of sausage, a pint of new potatoes,... More

Breakfast tacos are unratable. they are so poor. The potatoes look like they were yesterday's over baked potatoes and had set in a container and gotten brown overnight and the skins had turned almost black. When I opened the taco I was shocked. And if you would like sliced jalapenos on your taco, just pick up a gigantic whole jalapeno... More

Rudy's is a unique experience. Don't expect fancy BBQ. It's anything but fancy. Rudy's is a combination gas station and BBQ restaurant. The BBQ is good. You eat at picnic tables and you're not served your food on plates, it's more like crates. If you can get over the crude setting, you'll have fun and the food is good. I'd... More

I really enjoyed this dinner. Plenty of flavorful food. We arrived at 530pm for an early dinner so the line to order was short and it was easy to find seating for our group of 6. I enjoyed the lean brisket and both types of bbq sauce that were on the table. Another person in my group had the regular... More

We went to Rudy's with family visiting from out of town. Brisket was good. Air conditioner kept it cool. There was plenty of room for everyone at the long picnic style tables. 2 BBQ sauces. Sissy and regular. Regular was great -- not spicy but very good. Prices reasonable for the quality. They have condiment bar. Just right for any... More

We got there around 6:30PM. I order the ribs. The waitress was very nice and friendly. I ask her about how many came in 1/2 LB. She weighed them and showed me 4 very small ribs so I told her to add another 1/2 LB which looked very different then the first. When we sat down the first ribs were... More
