Description: Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened...
Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened in 1959. Come visit us. We offer homemade Mexican food, service, and great atmosphere. We have been called an oasis in the middle of the desert on several occasions. Many famous people have eaten at our establishment over the years. John Madden named our restaurant as the "All Madden Hall of Fame" in 1994. There are many other celebrities that have visited us and you can see pictures of them on our wall as you walk in. Every customer that walks in is a celebrity to us. Come on in sit, relax and enjoy our variety of Mexican and domestic beers, margaritas and drinks.

So-So Chuy's

The restaurant boasts that John Madden eats here as he is passing through. Better to boast about that than the food. The food was not bad, and any Tex-Mex restaurant claiming to be gourmet is delusional, but there are plenty of better Tex-Mex restaurants ( unfortunately, not in Van Horn ).

Food was just ok. Service was really good. They did have a lot of interesting decor around the walls. Glad we went but don't know that I would go again

Found this place while passing through the area, and craving a taco. Seems to have been around for quite some time and had a pretty good crowd at lunch time. The food was very good and fresh. The restaurant is a bit dark inside and has a lot of sports memorabilia on the wall. Again, the food was good and... More

We were staying at the Hampton Inn on the outskirts of town, driving a U-Haul. We'd hoped to be able to walk to dinner, but nothing was close-by. The manager recommended Chuy's and told us there would be plenty of room to park. It was easy to find (Van Horn's not that big) and there was a nice. large lot... More

Traveling west stopped for dinner. Greet staff was sufficient. Wait staff slightly less. Although friendly attention to detail was not her forte. We ordered ice tea which was delivered promptly yet missing something. The table next to us also ordered soft drinks and when served straws also were presented. We had to ask for straws. The menu was a little... More

We have to agree with some of the other reviews that our meal at Chuy’s was decent but just average. Nothing to write home about. There are very few dining options in Van Horn, so if passing through we might go back, but we might likely try somewhere else. Our server was polite. They serve the standard Mexican dishes at... At first I thought it was part of a Mexican food chain restaurant but was happy to find it was a family-owned restaurant. The service was great. The chips and salsa were excellent. I had chicken enchiladas with a white sauce, I can't remember what it was officially called on the menu. It turned out to be a very good... More

Good food, friendly service. Frequented by locals. Claim to fame: John Madden visited. There is a shrine in his honor.

To say this restaurant is off the beaten path is an understatement. There is not a huge choice of restaurants in Van Horn - but they are lucky to have an authentic Mexican Restaurnat. My husband & I stopped this past Thursday for an early lunch. We both ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The portions were excellent, the... More
