Description: Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened...
Chuy's is a family owned and operated Mexican restaurant that was opened in 1959. Come visit us. We offer homemade Mexican food, service, and great atmosphere. We have been called an oasis in the middle of the desert on several occasions. Many famous people have eaten at our establishment over the years. John Madden named our restaurant as the "All Madden Hall of Fame" in 1994. There are many other celebrities that have visited us and you can see pictures of them on our wall as you walk in. Every customer that walks in is a celebrity to us. Come on in sit, relax and enjoy our variety of Mexican and domestic beers, margaritas and drinks.

Worst service ever

I would write a review about the food, but we never got any. There were about 10 people waiting in the small entry to be seated. The waitress pushed her way through to the cash register without even acknowledging anyone. After about 10 minutes, a guy came out and gruffly asked who was next. We... read more

My husband and I were very much looking forward to a good mexican restaurant. The place looks very charming and colorful. We got there and there were people waiting to be seated. No one greeted us and we had no idea how long it was going to be for us to get a table. Once we got seated, service was... More

This was about the only place open when we rolled into Van Horn so we had limited choices. The food was fine for Mexican or tex-mex there were afew locals seated and ordering. The food was hot and filled a void. The place could use a major overhaul inside. It was very dark and there looked to be layers of... More

Easy walk from nearby motel, and the venue has some charm. Apparently John Madden stopped here often. Beer, wine, and Margaritas are libations. Food is OK, but not outstanding. It has seen better days obviously, but is hanging on and seems to be frequented by local. Prices are very reasonable.

Home of the John Maddens Hall of Fame, lots of pictures of stars on the walls, a quaint place. Loved the food, but the service was a little slow. Reasonably priced

If you need to eat while in Van Horn, this place does the job satisfactory. Despite the negative reviews about poor service, we found the opposite - we were drinking cold beer within 5 minutes of entering the restaurant. Our entrees were fine - tamale, enchilada, taco, tostada, rice and beans. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing wrong with it either.

They were out of the first 3 items I ordered. I settled for fish tacos and the fish was "old". The restaurant is proud to be one of John Madden's favorites and has a "Haul" of Fame to him.

Stopped here on the drive from Austin to San Diego... Good food, interesting décor. If you are in the neighborhood stop in.

The cafe was clean and the service was both friendly and prompt. They had many American and Mexican dishes on their menu and the pricing was reasonable.
