We try to stop here every time we are between Phoenix and San Antonio. My husband says they are the best green chile enchiladas he has ever had. I like the tacos. Note that they close on Saturday at 2 P.M. and are closed on Sunday. Food is great.

Great tacos in a little spot off 10. The salsa was incredible, the chicken was moist and the vegetables were crispy. Can't remember chicken tacos like that in a very long time.

After deciding not to stop across the street where it said "DIESEL FRIED CHICKEN" (Hate to think what that might taste like) we took a chance on Papa's Pantry, even though the outside was not appealing. Lots of local cars convinced us. The food and service were fabulous. We had a chicken breast grilled in a very tasty sauce with... More

Had a huge plate of fajita nachos. Was enough for 2. My husband had an American dish (chicken fried chicken) was very good although not typical. Not much atmosphere/ could use some music playing. Con-no queso. Service was very good.

While staying at the Hampton Inn down the road the front desk clerk recommended Papa's Pantry. Started with thin crisp chips and delicious homemade salsa ( recommend more cilantro) with a nice hot after bite to it. (Would have loved a Dos Equis with lime , but soft drinks only here.) Ordered the Combo Mexican dish, which was cooked by... More

We stumbled upon Papa's Pantry by accident, hidden beside a Pilot Truck Stop. Very casual, some unusual, exceptional Mexican food at unbelievably low prices. Appears to be a local favorite.

We stopped here for the don't know how many times on the way to Big Bend or San Antonio. Papa's closes early on Saturday and is not open on Sunday (or the 1st Saturday of the month). so it may be missed by some travelers. This is not a fancy place (if you have time, stop at the El Capitan... More

I love this place and would recommend it to anyone. I see all the tasteless comments about some of the waitresses and I have to say that one being an honest promt server is better than a fake smile and poor intentions. As a server we care about customer service and don't want to be too overwhelming to our customers.... More

We popped in to Papa's Pantry for a late lunch. Our waitress swiftly greeted & seated the 9 of us. Perusing the menu my choice popped out at me immediately. Fried Egg Sandwich on homemade bread. Yum!

If you have to stop in Van Horn to eat, I suppose this would suit you fine. The French toast was fairly good, but the eggs and hash browns could be found almost anywhere. Coffee was strong. Other reviewers have mentioned the attitude of the servers. I thought that the young woman serving us was friendly enough with the older... More
