Stopped in Van Horn. Had heard about this place on prior visits. Very friendly employees. Husband had the lemon pepper chicken with green beans. I had the strawberry spinach salad. Both good. Generous pour on my gin and tonic.

My husband thought it was expensive, but he thinks everything is expensive. It was good quality. I just love the staff, they are always very friendly and fun.

An opportunity to stay in Van Horn warranted a visit to the "El Capitan" Hotel dining room. The staff in the hotel and restaurant were friendly and it was a pleasant evening. We choose the house specialty which was the pistachio-crusted chicken-friend steak. It was served with mashed potatoes, vegetable of the day and jalapeno cream gravy. The portions were... More

I did a review on the restaurant, which was included in my review of the hotel. To make it short and sweet, the food's good but the lighting is terrible, lit like a high school cafeteria. If they would either lower or get rid of the overhead lighting and use the wall sconces plus candles on the tables, they'd hit... More

If you’re staying at the Hotel El Capitan, you will most likely be lucky enuf experience their wonderful restaurant just off the lobby. (Actually, the town of Van Horn is so small, I don’t even know if there’s another restaurant in town!) But, this restaurant is FANTASTIC! Our server, Debbie, was very helpful in recommending our appetizer, the Tapas --... More

The ambiance in the room is awesome! High ceilings...a nice bar...a real western feeling to the place of yester year. U can tell the restaurant used to be a bank. We sat near the entrance and it was super cool cuz we could still see the fireplace in the hall and hear it crackling and feel the warm from the... More

I wouldn't necessarily schedule my trip around dining here, but casual observation one Sunday afternoon suggests this is perhaps the best restaurant in Van Horn. The wife had a chicken and pasta dish with Alfredo sauce, and I had the pistachio crusted chicken fried steak (reportedly the #1 seller). Both meals were better than average. They also had craft beer... More

We went here for dinner while staying in Van Horn on our way to Houston. We heard about the restaurant from birth Trip Advisor and the Hampton Inn where we were staying. Based on reviews my husband ordered the pistachio crusted fried steak with garlic mashed potatoes. He said it was excellent. I tasted it and also thought it was... More

Calling it the best restaurant in Van Horn isn't saying much, considering the lack of competition. Still, it would be on my "must" list almost anywhere. White tablecloths, superb service, limited but varied menu. I've had pasta, and it was great. Their monster cheeseburger has looked so good being carried past me that I've almost chased the server and snatched... More
