Like I said great. Staff friendly food very tasteful and very easy parking. All motels in Van Horn are close by.

This place was recommended by friends who stopped by before. We sat outside in the patio area overlooking the water fountain. I was looking for something light and ordered a Turkey Club. Excellent sandwich and apparently was something new on the menu. My 2 friends that joined me ordered a Spinach and Berry Salad and Lemon Pepper Chicken. The salad... More

The restaurant and bar are in one room which is pretty small. The food was very good and the server very attentive. The ribeye I had was done exactly like I ordered it and I saw cheese burgers served that were huge! Dinner here was by far the best part of my night at the el capitan.

This restaurant has good quality food and service. I have returned time and time again. The wait and management makes your dine in a pleasant experience. And for goodnight rest after the meal. I recommend you stay at the at the El Capitain motel. Thanks for the great service.

Recommended by Ms Wendy at the Whiten Inn. Impressed by the number of locals dining here on a Wednesday Evening. The service (Debbie) was attentive and helpful, the history of the establishment was interesting, the draft beer was cold and the food was delicious. What is not to like??? Not too many alternatives here in West Texas but Van Horn... More

First off, the hotel is exceptionally clean! Very nice surprise the common areas, bath rooms were spotless. The restaurant is plain, but comfortable. We had the tenderloin, and other than the server mixing up our medium rare/medium plates, the steaks were excellent. Atmosphere is ok, service good, and food above average, and probably the best in Van Horn.

First, we love old hotels, so it was nice to see how this one had been renovated. We were there on a Monday night and were surprised at how many people were there--but no problem getting a table. The bartender had trouble making a whiskey sour so I got a gin and tonic instead and it was fine. Another waitress... More

After a long day of driving we stopped for the night in Van Horn. We decided to eat here as we wanted something that wasn't fast food, which are essentially the only options in this small town. My husband had the pistachio crusted fried steak with jalapeño gravy and mashed potatoes. He loved it..it was very tasty and a very... More

There are few dining choices in Van Horn, TX and we opted for El Capitan as the reviews on Trip Advisor seemed better than the others. The Hotel looks nice; the dining room is comfy and welcoming. We were greeted upon entering the restaurant and were seated immediately. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The server nicely said that... More

Nephew and I were going from Tucson to Fort Worth and this was a natural dinner stop. We didn't want fast food and the restaurant was only non fast food we found in area. Place was full, bar was busy. Waited 15 minutes for a table. We ordered 2 Rib Eye Steaks with no mushrooms and baked potatoes. A wonderful... More
