Best kept secret-off the beaten path except for locals

I love this place! It is a bed and breakfast, but they are open for lunch Tuesday-Friday 11am-2pm. They usually have 2 entrees each day but I usually order the sampler which is a portion of both entrees so i can sample both. Yesterday I had Chicken Divan and Garden Spaghetti Salad along with... read more

Lunch is Tues – Friday 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. We were warned to arrive early, as they only make a certain amount of food and once it's gone... We arrived a little before 11am, and walked in to charming antique decor and the smell of homemade bread. We were welcomed and seated immediately. I was told before I went... More

My husband surprised me by reserving the Sunday House cottage on Valentine's Day 2/14/14! It was dark outside when we arrived and the restaurant facing the main street does not have much lighting since they are not open for dinner so we had trouble finding the driveway that takes you to the cottage behind the restaurant. This mild annoyance was... More

I shall write this as Mrs White went in asking if a table for 4 was available while my husband Mr. Black parked the car. The lady said yes, but when my family entered, Mr.Black and his sisters no one came to seat us. They looked our direction several times but never came to us to seat us nor give... More

I took my wife here for Valentine's Day weekend. I wanted to surprise her. Since we live just a few miles up the road I knew she would never expect this. Even though the Sunday House is just a small cottage the coziness of the setup is perfect for a couple looking to get away from the hustle and bustle... More

On Thursday, Nov 13, 2014, a group of docents from Chestnut Square Historical Village in McKinney, TX, were visiting Van Alstyne, and had made reservations here. The menu was somewhat limited, as they had already run out of baked potatoes, but the food was still delicious. Four of our group had the lunch sampler, the other three had the grilled... More

We rented the B&B for a weekend retreat. I had eaten at the restaurant years ago and found it charming, so I was disappointed to open the door to the Main House to a strong musty, old odor. We also rented the Sunday House -- and the odor was not bad there. At the main house, it was bad enough... More

We were traveling to Tulsa and wanted to find a place to eat lunch. THIS is the place. We had the chicken spaghetti lunch special, which came with an excellent spinach, mandarin orange and strawberry salad (poppy seed dressing). Then for dessert we shared a piece of spectacular coconut creme pie. Wow! All this for not much more than you... More

I visit the restaurant for lunch as often as possible. Its a quaint little setting with real down hom cooking. I usually get whatever they have foe the special that day (very reasonably priced at around 8 bucks) and have not been disappointed. Chicken Ritz is probably my favorite. The special comes with a poppyseed dressing that is wonderful.

Intimate. Food quality is great and so is the staff. They have a unique menu every day with something for men with hearty appetites and women that may want something light.
