We were surprised to find this more upscale restaurant while visiting in Tyler, TX. Tyler has always seemed to cling to the past with little creativity when it comes to its restaurant menus. However, this restaurant served elegantly prepared meals worthy of any other upscale restaurant in much larger cities. The appetizer blew our socks off--fig stuffed artichoke in a... More

I get my hair done by Darla at Mane Essentials 2 doors down. Today, I did not bring anything that seemed like a good bite for lunch so stopped in at Currents for a menu and phone number to call as my appointment neared its end. Apparently, they have an issue with staff as one person told me "no to... More

Wow. What a let down. We heard that this restaurant was good but not great so we wanted to see for ourselves. It's true. We were so disappointed. I don't think they know how poorly they compare to other great restaurants. They have such potential but aren't meeting basic qualifications. First of all, the bartender was no where to be... More

A golfing group of twelve dined at Currents. I must say the service was very, very cordial and very good. The problem was the food. The citizens of Tyler deserve a better, upscale food quality restaurant. Probably not just a bad night; my strip steak special with a sauce was very tasteless. Not a brown, charred surface; only grey matter.... More

Currents moved and is under new management. Great small place to eat. I had a few dishes the night I went salmon was really good. Shrimp past dish was really good. Appetizer were very tasty. Meat loaf was really good as well. Friendly and attentive service. I would say you will not be disappointed in this place. Very good.

We went to Currents for lunch. The greeting was with an attitude of dismay that we were there. We ordered a ribeye steak and Mediterrean chicken. The steak was 1/2 fat and the chicken dish had 3 small pieces of chicken and a bland taste. The service was very average at best. The manager did comp the steak after complaining.... More

Took my wife here on a date night away from our 2-year old son as we were visiting family from Georgia. I chose the place via their website/menu as we looked all over Tyler for a place to go. We've gone to a lot of nice places over the years but this place didn't leave us any fond memories. The... More

I get my hair done in this shopping center and was very excited to try it for lunch. I was seated promptly and was asked what I wanted to drink. I went ahead and ordered my drink and meal. 20 minutes go by and I'm seeing new people come in, receive their drink orders, and I wait and wait.... I... More

As we are new to the area and looking for dining suggestions, this restaurant was highly recommended to us. Some things about it are very nice--the decor (furnishing, china, linens), a large and friendly wait staff, nice cocktails. Some things are disappointing--water that tastes of chlorine, having to remind wait staff to replace utensils twice, having to grind our own... More

We had dinner last night at the new Currents Restaurant on South Broadway in Tyler, TX. I had the grilled salmon. My husband had the blackened Mahi Mahi. Mine was a 10 out of 10 - on a bed of cooked spinach and julienned vegetables. Perfectly cooked salmon. His was good but not as good as the salmon. Would definitely... More
