enjoyable experience

We were watching the Ironman triathlon which passed right on the side of the restaurant. There is a two-story patio on the water that makes for an enjoyable experience. Our server was wonderful, very friendly. The food was good – enjoyed the fries (not necessarily the potato wedges), the drinks... read more

We were here to watch the Ironman with our family. The food is pretty typical bar food. We ordered a variety of items including the nachos and chicken wings. I would not order the nachos again as they were not that great and done with a potato chip instead of a tortilla chip but the chicken wings were very good.... More

It's fantastic to hear that you enjoyed the chicken wings while you watched the Ironman from the patio. We do serve bar food, but we also have some more interesting items like seafood and wood fired pizza. Michelle will be happy to know that you liked the service. We have a great team here! Hope to see you again sometime.... More

I went out to dinner with colleagues while staying at the nearby Marriott, which is within walking distance. This not an 'upscale' restaurant, but great for getting together after a long day of work. I had the chicken pesto pizza, which was perfect. My colleague had the half plate of ribs and that looked good. The service was prompt, which... More

I'm glad you pointed out the fact that we're handicap accessible, Katie. We don't want anyone to feel excluded here, nor do we want them to have to ride a stair lift. Our view is very special to us, and we're all about having a nice atmosphere for our friends. Hope to see you again soon! Best, Brian Young Managing... More

Stopped over to have a pint before seeing Dave Matthews in concert, and decided to go to the top floor seating area. What a visual treat that was overlooking The Woodlands waterway and trees! Service was fine...no complaints. Will return in the future!

We visited the Gooses Acre thinking we would get Pub Grub. I say pork chops (roasted) and went for it - not a good choice. They were tougher than a goalkeepers boot and dryer than a Scousers wit. Definitely grilled and not roasted. My mates Chicken Pot Pie wasn't too palate friendly, either. Maybe the real pub grub is OK?

Your chops should have been moist and juicy when you were with us. Typically, we don't get feedback like this, and the chops are delicious. This was a misstep for us. Great pub grub is suppose to be warm, comforting, and full of flavor. We will do everything we can to ensure this going forward. All the best, Brian Young... More

Our first time in the Woodlands and happened upon Gooses Acre. Three orders of fish & chips were supposed to be beer-battered cod with seasoned fries, etc. Unlike any codfish I ever ate; the curled up fillets look suspiciously like the breaded catfish that I've seen served everywhere in east Texas. Fries were in fact steak fries, not French fries... More

While we're sorry that you weren't a fan of the fries, we'd like to assure you that the fish we serve in the fish and chips is, in fact, cod. However, it should have been significantly more tasty for you -- we usually deliver. This may have been an off-day for us. We don't have them often, but we are... More

Location: We chose the restaurant on a recent beautiful Saturday evening for a casual dinner and the chance to sit outside on their patio overlooking the canal. They have one of the nicest patios in the Waterway Square area because there is a lovely view and it is set apart/secluded, but with enough activity to enjoy the people watching. They... More

While we're incredibly happy that you loved the ambiance and the patio, we wish that we could have wowed you with the food, Susan. That said, thanks so much for joining us! We're glad that we could provide you and your husband with gluten free options. It's also fantastic to hear that your son enjoyed the pizza, but I wish... More

We've been going to the GA for drinks, lunch, dinner, and music for over five years. We are not happy to write this review because we really like the place. We have noticed that service and the quality of the food are getting worse with every visit. We've also noticed a high turnover of staff recently and have seen former... More

I am just as unhappy to read this review as you are to write it -- we always want to do right by our friends. I will make sure that we are constantly improving, and I'd... More

Decent pub style food in what the average US-izen imagines a Irish/British Pub to be. Food service can be a little slow when the place is busy, but this is compensated by the decent selection of beers in the place. For the afficionados - it does serve a fairly decent pint of Guinness on a pretty regular basis.
