I'm hoping it will be great when it fully reopens

I was a very interesting, funky bar and restaurant before the tragedy. The food was bad but the bar and music were very good. The new owner has put a lot of money into it so I'm guardedly optimistic he will do it right. I'm looking forward to the kitchen opening up. Everyone should give it a... read more

I went to La Kiva on the day of the reopening, which happened during Terlingua music festival. Well, that was months ago, and I'm still craving for their BBQ. The place itself is beautiful, the people there were friendly. It fitted perfectly in the Big Bend amazement.

We stopped by La Kiva tonight. This place has had some tragedy lately but it is remodeled and open for business. They don't serve food right now but we stopped by for a drink and it is just lovely inside. Still cave-like and very special. I hope they start serving food again soon. Anyway stop in and help the new... More

After a long day of exploring Big Bend National Park and Terlingua, we stopped for a nightcap at La Kiva! Bartender knew every drink that has been created under the sun. I enjoyed the La Kiva cocktail!!! Do not miss this cool place with a very creative Dinosaur skeleton collection!

I have stayed in Terlingua at least a dozen times in the last twenty years and have eaten and drank at La Kiva each and every time. On all previous visits the place had a great dive bar feel that appeared to be loved by the locals. During the last four or five visits it was obvious to me that... More

I've been going to La Kiva for years and am so excited its back open. Just a bar right now, but the drinks were well priced and the new owners have really done the place right. It has a great cozy feel to it and the patio is awesome. I'm looking forward to many fun nights as they continue to... More

La Kiva is more than a place to hang out and have a drink, it's an experience. You cannot go to Terlingua without stopping by this magnificent work of art. You will spend most of the time walking around just looking at the walls and decor. This is a must do

We really enjoyed our cocktails, including a cosmopolitan that was made perfectly. Whether you choose the den/cave indoor seating or the outdoor spaces, add this one to your list while in Terlingua. Next time will definitely try the food, which we hear is wonderful.

Don't miss this spot when you are in the Terlingua area! It is an iconic bar and restaurant that had closed for a few years. Now, with a new (and very gracious) owner, it is being lovingly restored. For now, only the bar is open. Much of the structure is underground and it has a very cool, cave-like vibe; but... More

This la Kiva is under new management and rocks. New building, new kitchen, new menu, great bar, easy to see and hear the music (and get away from it to have a quiet meal). John and Josie Holroyd bought a relic of a business, sadly in need of an infusion of cash to bring the building up to code, and... More
