This is the real deal but, if you are from the area, you already know that. The building has sky-lights that are blackened out from the smoke, picnic tables inside two seating areas. We waited in line for about 20 minutes on a weekday at 11:30am. Menu on white sheets of paper taped to the wall. Our group of four... More

We decided to call in our order and bring it home since my husband was working and couldn't go with us. I'd like to get the whole experience one day. We drove about 65 miles one way and it was well worth it!! The line was already long but since we called it in, we walked straight in past the... More

Went here for lunch on a recent visit to Austin . The building is old world , rustic, & has a great feel about it , menu is on pages stuck to the wall written in black marker !! The food was amazing , we shared ribs , brisket & turkey . Can't wait to return !!

The hours are odd because they close at 6. We arrive shortly before closing so took our order as a carry out. The brisket was tender and flavorful. I recommend the potato salad too.

Had the sliced brisket sandwich and a sausage. Both were delicious. Very strong black pepper flavor. About $10. Well worth the price of admission. Will definitely come back.

Opened in 1949, and definitely an old school bbq joint, this is the best in TX. Seriously. Try the moist brisket. It's so juicy, smokey, and flavorful. Then the baby back ribs. Slow smoked, sweet, and so tender. The best I've had. The sausage tastes like butter. It malts in your mouth and you don't want to chew it, you... More

If you love bbq you have to make pilgramage to this Texas shrine. This is the way it should always be done, looow and slow. The brisket is perfection, anyway you care to enjoy it. The ribs are equally good. The building is nothing fancy but iis classic and unforgettable. It is just too bad it is not close to... More

No kidding. It's still the best in Texas. Make sure you get there pretty early if you don't want to stand in line. But no matter when you get there, no matter how long the line is, guaranteed you'll leave full with a smile on your face. Just the best rub on brisket you'll ever find. If you're close, take... Once again this is a Bar B Q place that will take you back in time. I don't like the serving line, that can take a long time. The sausage is better then found in most of Tx. Bar B Q Joints. But judging it on its own merits, its average.
