Get there early or go after the lunch crowd and hope they haven't run out of anything. This BBQ melts in your mouth. The brisket is a must. Get a beef rib if you can afford it. It's huge. Like 2 meals huge. The sides aren't spectacular but big deal. You may smell like smoke from the pit if you... More

We have somewhat of an annual tradition of trying legendary BBQ joints on our way to the Texas coast. This trip we went to Taylor to try Louie Mueller's. The atmosphere here can't be topped. The screen doors that welcome you and old wooden floors that creak beneath your boots are filled with history. When you walk in you are... More

Thought we would try famous Louie Mueller's and they delivered. Note: If you are not from Taylor, this town is kinda out of the way but it may be worth the drive. Started with beef brisket and a couple links of sausage. REALLY GOOD BRISKET!! Sausage is pretty good but brisket definitely wins out of the two. Surprisingly there wasn't... More

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Yes, this place is awesome. Worth the drive from Austin. Worth waiting on line. Worth getting a bit of every piece of meat they offer. The brisket and the sausage were my favorites here. I have to say probably the best smoked brisket I have ever had. Smokey, juicy, melt in... More

Stopped by on a Saturday morning in April around 10 am. Line was already 30 mins long when they opened the doors. Picked up couple pounds of brisket (very moist), three kinds of sausage, pulled pork and a single beef rib. The beef rib was HUGE; it weighed almost two pounds! Took all of these smoked meats, along with several... More

Nothing else to say. If you're in the area...eat there. Get there early though as they WILL sell out. It's TRUE central Texas "Q" and a BBQ legend. You KNOW its a true "joint" as you're served on butcher paper. Now THAT'S good eats!!

I grew up eating at Louie Mueller's every weekend with my family - whenever I go back home, this is a must-eat staple on my to-do list. Place get's a little cold in the winter, but just bring a jacket and you'll be fine. I love their sausage... I can't find anywhere else that makes it like they do!

I've been eating hear for 35 years. The new owner is doing a good job at making this an empire. I remember not having to wait in line for ever to get mediocre BBQ. It used to be unbelievable BBQ. You don't see many local faces anymore with all the tourist that hear about it from the magazines or Food... More

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful BBQ experience at Louie Mueller's in Taylor, Texas. We were warned to go early as the line starts early, and the parking lot fills accordingly. We totally understood the issue when we got there at 11:30AM. My husband ordered a "rib" which was more like a roast on a bone, and a wet... More

Louie Mueller's provides an excellent hill country BBQ experience. If you are in the Austin area, it is definitely worth a try. I went on a Friday. The line went out the door and onto the sidewalk. It took around an hour to get the meat. The fat brisket was delicious. I'd put it a gentle notch below Kreuz market,... More
