Rude Waitstaff

My daughter and her boyfriend went to brunch today, March 1, at The Palms Resort and Cafe on the Island. They are what anyone would call "beautiful people". Quite, well-dressed, mannerly, good-looking. They are not a bead and bong toting, "smells of weed" couple. They were not on the island for... read more

The Palms does a great job with Bring Your Own Catch. I had the "basket" version that included fries that were lightly battered - WOW - you have to try these fries!!!! The fish batter is light and crunchy that really enhances the fish flavor. My wife ordered the Coconut Shrimp with a side salad. This entree was equally fabulous.... More

All four of the meals we tried were very good. Chicken basket, Shrimp basket, Oyster basket and Denver omlette sandwich. We each had home made potatoe chips which were nice and crispy with some cheese sprinkled on top. We all enjoyed the meals that we ordered however the menue items are a little high priced and this was for lunch.... More

We've stayed on South Padre Island for five years and never visited the Palms Cafe. After a recommendation by a local, we finally did. It was great! I had grilled snapper and it was done to perfection! I'm not a big zucchini lover, but whatever they did to it was fabulous! The service was terrific and very friendly. We would... More

This place is one of our favorites!! A small and casual cafe with great food and friendly service. Enjoy lunch or dinner while looking out at the beautiful beach of South Padre Island. Reasonable pricing.

This place was fantastic to eat a late breakfast at. My husband and I both devoured our food. We will definitely be going back to try the items on the lunch and dinner menu.

For an island'y vibe, beautiful ocean view, outdoor seating, and a sea-worthy menu, this is the best place on South Padre. It is the first restaurant I recommend to visitors. It is tiny but I have never had to wait to get a table. Everything my wife/family/friends and I have ever ordered has been excellent. I generally favor grilled seafood... More

Lambchop ( my lovely bride of 20+ years ) and I love South Padre. Now that our boys are grown and gone, (does living separately within a mile of our house constitute 'gone'?) we are able to go to South Padre during the 'off' season which in our opinion is the only time to go. It's a totally different experience... More

We really enjoy this place. The location is outstanding given its right by the beach. It's is not too big, which makes it appealing. The food is always good and we haven't been disappointed. Good service and really good drinks. They have good happy hour specials. Laid back and relaxing. The fish tacos are yummy. I recommend the Texas Tini... More

After seeing so many great reviews of this restaurant, we went with great hopes. Unfortunately, we were just a little bit disappointed. We all had versions of fish or shrimp baskets (fried), and it was just so-so. The service was good and our waiter was friendly. The fish was better than the shrimp. We ordered shrimp thinking it would be... More
