We use Clayton's as a base when we visit South Padre Island to go for a beach walk. Their deck is HUGE, so we can always find a table reasonably far away from smokers or loud patrons, and most all of the tables have a nice view. We usually just have a beer, which is reasonably priced, but have... read more

Claytons is said to be the biggest beach bar in Texas and it probably is. You can choose your table, sun or shade, walk up to the bar and order your drink and food, wait a short time for your prompter to "buzz" and pick up your food. No waitress hassle, you are on your own. The nachos are good,... More

The bar offered some amazing drinks. There is plenty of seating available. They also serve snack food. The view is spectacular to watch the waves come in. This is also a great place to watch people pass by walking on the sandy beach. This certainly is the place to come and unwind.

Spent the day at Claytons sitting on the deck, having a couple beers, and having a good lunch watching the waves come in just a great day . Sun was warm, great place to be in the winter food s little pricey but its good and the view is spectacular. They are under construction as they are putting in a... More

This place is HUGE. This place is packed during spring Break and all Summer. It can hold a thousand people easily. We were here in the Winter, and only because it was next door to our hotel. It is open only on the weekend in the Winter, and the Island is mostly populated with 'Winter Texans' from far northern states... More

I love the open patio and the direct access to the beach. The drink prices are right in line with every other restaurant and bar. The live music is nice to listen too with the great view. I would not order food as it is over priced for fast food. Just keep drinking instead. Easy to meet and talk with... More

We shared a bacon cheeseburger and fries, just the right amount. We indulged in their signature drinks, a Turbo-charged Piña Colada and a Beach Wave, both wonderful. Sitting on the deck listening to the roar of the surf was just what we needed on our first night in SPI. We had our dog with us and he was welcome too.

This was the location of the finish line for the inaugural South Padre Marathon/Half marathon event. Many beers are available along with burgers and other similar bar food. I can testify the burgers are good.

Friendly bartendress took our orders, tacos were bland n had no cheese, even though it was American style ground beef taco with lettuce. Fried fish was generous n just ok. View was fantastic, drinks were good.

Food was bland. Since its outside, we expected some Uncleanliness, but it looked like they hadn't power washed the chairs & tables in awhile, because there were bird droppings on everything
