We started going to Clayton's when they first built the 'biggest beach bar. Last year they added another huge bar area which is completely covered, therefore you can sit in the sun or shade or on the beach. There is always a mix of ages of people there. Our favorites are the shrimp salad and burger/fries. Beer is a bit... More

Right next to La Quinta this is a large beach bar with a good selection of food with decent prices. We ate the fried shrimp and it was good. There are many drinks to chose from and the staff was quick and friendly. We will be back.

Stopped in for drinks one afternoon, during spring break, and had a great time. We are a little older, and felt right at home. People of all ages were out enjoying the afternoon sun, happy hour prices, and entertainment of the younger crowd. Everyone was polite, courteous, and conversational. Drinks were cold, and 2 beers were only 5 bucks! One... More

Great entertainment, large seating area with chairs, booze a bit pricey ( $5 for a can of beer) but friendly folks, lots of fun. The bands are excellent and play all sorts of music from 50s on to current stuff. Room for dancing on open deck-- had covered areas too. Lots of clean restrooms. They also serve food, but I... More

What a fun outdoor restaurant right on the beach. We walk up the beautiful beach at S Padre Island and sit there in the sun! What's not to love!

There is not a lot of options or competition along the beach, but Clayton's doesn't take advantage of the situation. The staff was very friendly, drinks are decent, food was good. Their huuuuge patio is open to anyone purchasing at least a drink.

We enjoyed Clayton’s and I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. It’s a cut above the average bar and grill atmosphere. Seating is all open air but they have a large covered area and a large open section. We found our food to be good and the mixed drinks have plenty of alcohol. It’s a... More

Went when nothing special was happening on a Tuesday and probably got a better experience because of it. This is a bar, so stick with bar food. Nachos are good enough and the burgers are better than average. If you want seafood, go to Dirty Als. Bartender wasn't hurried so the drinks were good. No service though, order at the... More

We heard this was great for an evening meal, drinks and live entertainment. I ordered the seafood combo and a drink called the TSUNAMI. My total cost was $25. My meal consisted of a thin filet the size of a deck of cars, a handful of fries and what looked like an oyster cut in half to make 2. My... More

no, that's all.... we didn't have food to eat that time, too busy! As I mentioned...it has expanded...always too many cars, tough on parking sometimes. It used to be a neat cozy place -- but it has grown, no what I like in a place, especially it is now to close and right up to the La Quinta we have... More
