My husband and I were hoping to get some kind of Mexican Seafood type cuisine when the sign said Mexican and Seafood, but it was just pretty much fried seafood with fumi salad. Never heard of fumi salad - All it is Cabbage salad. Good but not excellent.

I highly recommend this nice little restaurant. It's not fancy but has pleasant decor. Not noisy with loud music so you can enjoy conversation. The staff was very attentive. Most attractive offering is that they serve both great Tex Mex and seafood on their menu. Definitely try the Cameronitas Diablitos. These are bacon, jalapeño and cream cheese wrapped shrimp. Delicious!... More

All we wanted was to eat some fresh caught fish. I thought that wasn't too much to ask for considering they are surrounded by water and the owner is a fisherman. There are lot of pictures of him catching fish on the walls. Food comes out and the fried fish is so obviously frozen. My fish is still partially cold... More

My husband and I shared the Monday night special, which is the fried seafood platter of fish, shrimp, and oysters, and also the blackened fish and shrimp platter. All of the items had a very good taste, but the blackened items were spectacularly seasoned. The fries were crisp, so we enjoyed those also. My husband liked the fumi salad that... More

This place had great fish and shrimp tacos and the slaw is amazing. Super friendly service. I ordered take-out and they have a drive up window where you can pick up your order. This is good for when you are a bit sandy and wind-blown. Very reasonably priced and is an excellent value. I will definitely go back next time... More

I am not going to go into many details regarding the visit. However, here is what is wrong with this restaurant: 1. They serve basa, if you don't know what basa is, it is an imported fish from southeast Asia and similar to cat fish. I do not undestand why they would serve an imported, farm rasied catfish when they... More

We discovered Cap'n Roy's many years ago, on our first family trip to South Padre Island. And we keep going back. I must say right off the mark, we have never sat down in the restaurant to eat! We have spent years eating their food but it has always been take-out. It's one of the reasons we first found them... More

Back down on South Padre Island for a while, decided to try a restaurant I'd never eaten at but had recommended to several people who were visiting the Island and they loved it, so hey, off I went. The main dining room was nice, visually appealing, and a 'right feel'. The small room in the front had 5 or 6... More

When me and the family arrived we where greeted by Cap'n Roy himself, and he informed us it would be a hour till we would be seated. We stated we understood it was a busy evening. We gave him or name, and told him we were going to step across the street to get a shirt for our sun. As... More

I had the award winning bacon wrapped jalapeño stuffed shrimp, 6 pieces were just the right amount. My friends's son had the fried fish oyster combination plate and that looked delicious as well.
