This is a casual, local spot that specializes in seafood with a Mexican flair. Service is fast and friendly. Dining area is a dive with a fisherman's flair. I got the blackened fish tacos, which were good, nothing super though. My husband got shrimp and fish basket, which he wasn't super impressed with. This place is okay, we might go... More

It was ok. Service was great and the guacamole was good. Enchiladas were not the best. Chips were really good.

wow! I came here on my second day at S.P.I. but they were closing, they offered me ceviche to go but I wanted to seat down and eat warm food so I came back the next day, I asked the waitress to recommend between the special of the day (steak and poblano peppers + sides) or the shrimp tacos... her... My wife were considering trying out a different dining establishment while staying on South Padre Island and, on an impulse, we pulled into Cap'n Roy's located on the main drag, Padre Blvd. Upon entering we both felt immediately charmed by the ambiance, a down-home authentic eatery where the locals would go. Service was quick, exceedingly friendly, the menu full yet... More

I enjoyed Roy's because it is very down to earth. Nothing fancy, just good food at a reasonable price. Our food came quickly, it was an mid - afternoon visit and the place was quite.

This was not our first choice, but after trying 3 other places, all closed, we ended up here. The place is deserted. We ordered fish tacos and beef tacos with a side of chips and salsa. The chips ($2.50) were brought out cold. I prefer warm. The salsa was ok - just barely has a "kick". The beef tacos ($5.99)... More

Always stop for a Cap'n Roy's dinner when I'm on the island. The place was pretty vacant on Saturday around 6:00 pm but by 6:30 it was full. Grilled fish platter is always my favorite (check on fish type); they know how to season and cook. Shared two shrimp stuffed with crab, both generous portions. And the Fumi salad and... More
