Great Food + Great Cause

I'm so glad we stopped here on our way from Austin to Houston. We decided to give it a chance because of the fabulous reviews on T.A. The food was just as good as my grandma's on Sunday afternoons! My hubs had the Sunday lunch special: chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. I... read more

Wonderful cozy place. The premise behind the concept of the café is just wonderful. Definitely recommend.

We were on a weekend getaway & stumbled on this restaurant. The food was very obviously prepared fresh. Our waiter was a bit rough around the edges. But very attentive & appreciative. Then we learned that this was a cafe with a mission to save people from addiction. Then we totally understood & were even more impressed. We liked that... More

If you are spending some time in Smithville, wander over to the Comfort Cafe. They have this beautiful patio with fountains, wisteria, and a stage for a band, and lots of shade [key point in the summer!]. The staff is very nice and the food is wonderful. If you are planning ahead, there are yoga classes next door so this... More

Where ever you are, it is worth the drive to Smithville for the best breakfast around. I had the Texas Benny which is a genius of an idea. Grilled biscuit, sausage patty, egg, and jalapeno cream sauce. Also had a peanut butter chocolate brownie that was out of this world. And besides having the best darn food, they are a... More

I love the Comfort Cafe! For breakfast, brunch, or lunch, I love gathering with friends at the Comfort Cafe. The food is always fresh and wonderfully made. I'm torn between the burgers, the omelets and scrambles, and the mouth-watering chicken curry salad. Is the decor fancy? No. In fact it looks a lot like any small town cafe--mismatched tables and... It's only open on the weekends for breakfast and lunch. It is tied to Serenity Star which is a recovery program and donations are accepted for meals. Good food and good cause!

We are planning a wedding in Smithville and I was looking for rehearsal dinner place. Just happened to walk in to the Cafe and Im so glad we did. Not only is the food outstanding but the reason for the cafe's cause and mission is so wonderful. All donations go to help support a recovery center right there in Smithville.... More

We were in Smithville for the weekend and this unique and delightful restaurant was highly recommended to us! Comfort Cafe is part of the Serenity Star Recovery Center. The cafe runs on donations (including those for your meals). The food was fantastic! (we actually ate there twice in two day!). The service was a little slow but everything is made... More

A recent trip to Smithville, TX for lunch produced a nice find: the Comfort Cafe! We took a turn to find another local restaurant (which was closed for lunch) and ended up stumbling across this little gem. The aroma from the cafe is what actually caught my attention . . . otherwise we might have missed it. The fare ranged... More
