Stopped in here for a quick bite on our road trip and wish I would have kept driving. The place wasn't very clean, the salad bar was a joke. And the prices were way too much I don't mind paying $50 for a meal if its good. My advice is keep driving!!!!

The Best Western front desk clerk directed us here, stating that 'There isn't anyplace else.' (This turned out to be untrue.) The restaurant was shabby, the waitress was sloppy and wearing stained clothing, and the food was your basic fried, greasy-spoon fare. On top of that, it was expensive. As my husband noted, "This place gives greasy-spoons a bad name."... More

We were on a trip and looking for a breakfast buffet. No luck with that. ....we just couldn't find one on the road so we decided to try Mitchell's. It's the kind of small town hometown family restaurant I grew up with. The omelets were better than most, hashbrowns were crispy and better than anything we would have had on... More

Overall the food was good, restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Service was good. Had an old time diner feel. A little over priced but the food tasted very good.

Food was excellent. I ate there three times during a work visit in the area. The sale bar us included in most meals. Great value and excellent service. The decor is dated, but I was there to eat.

When you are driving through the panhandle of Texas your dining options are limited, expecially on New Year's Day. That is how we ended up in this diner in Shamrock Tx. It is amazing that his place stays open. As I walked into this diner I tried not to be influlenced by the barren decor. Looks can sometime be deceiving.... More

Greeted by a wall of very interesting crosses, Mitchell's Family Restaurant serves good family food by a very helpful staff. While there is any ambience to the place, it does have a diverse group of customers who keep in interesting. I had the liver and onions, yes I like this! It was very well prepared and quite good. I easily... More

On this trip we stop on our way from home to Gallup, NM in Shamrock, TX and ask at the front desk in our motel for their suggestion as to where to eat. Other than fast food this was the only place open. It is not the fanciest place but the service was good and my chicken philly was outstanding!... More

Mitchell's is ambience free. But if you want some great burgers that can be overlooked. After all we're in cattle country. Our party had the Swiss, mushroom burger and the double cheeseburger. The patties are made by hand, no frozen stuff here. The burger was juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The burger came with chips, tater tots or fries. Our... More

We were traveling and stopped for the night and looked for a restaurant and found Vern's Steakhouse on route 66, when we went in we were totally ignored for over 10 minutes and never seated so we left and drove and found Mitchell's family restaurant. When we entered, they were extremely friendly immediately. They seated us took our drink order.... More
