Good Ole' Country Breakfast

The place is a bit outdated, but the food and the employees make you forget it. The waiter and hostess were very nice. The food was hot and delicious. My parents said the coffee was good. Restrooms were clean. They have a gift shop which had some very neat items. We ate breakfast here and the... read more

This is a good stopover if you're traveling between Houston and San Antonio. It's just off IH-10, with easy entry and egress to the interstate. The food is good, with typical southern specialties such as chicken fried steak, fried or grilled catfish, and fried chicken. They were out of the meat loaf, but it is on the menu. The prices... Ate here yesterday. The chicken tenders are HUGE and clearly homemade. My son said they were good and not dry or overcooked. I ordered the catfish dinner. It wasn't terrible but I would not recommend it to anyone. The servers were all very kind and attentive but the rest was just ok. The restaurant is very dated...Like 70's/early 80s and... More

I was surprised to read some less than outstanding prior reviews, as our lunch at Frank's was the absolute BEST experience we've had....at least with only food involved. The brisket sandwiches tasted great, with true home made side dishes and great pie for dessert. This place is a throw back to 'the good old days'...very highly recommended AND a good... More

This place will take you back in time, you might think you're still in the 50s not just in decor but also in charm and courtesy. The waitstaff is delightful, mature, pleasant, efficient and friendly. We were a group of 25 people, we were accommodated so well and served in a timely manner. Although all we had was breakfast, mine... More

For years, Frank's has been a trip favorite as we travel via 77 from Waco to Refugio before continuing to Aransas Pass. Adding the time from Dallas to Waco means Schulenburg for lunch. Most of the time, we stop at Frank's on the way and again on the return trip. Although we are unfamiliar with the breakfast, we have never... More

We've been stopping at Frank's for over 30 years, but not for a couple of years. We had the lunch specials. The pork chop and sausage were good but the sides just did not measure up. The service was fair and the meals came quickly.....maybe a bit too quickly. It's sad to see a favored place like Frank's go into... More

A huge restaurant for such a small town, I was quiet surprised subpar effort of the waitress during a lax period, limited choices on a minute breakfast menu, overdone biscuits, CheezWhiz type product on a Western omelette, and no gravy. For the positve - the bacon was crisp as ordered.

We stopped by Frank's on our way back to Houston. I had always wanted to try it because of the signs. Inside, it reminds me of the 1970's with the dark wood and tile. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday morning. The service was extremely slow, as others have noted. The food way okay. We had pancakes, eggs... More

I travel I-10 a lot and this has always been a regular breakfast stop. It's got a '50s diner feel without gimmicks because that's likely that last time it was updated. Priced are reasonable and I've always found the service to be fine. They have a curiosity shop where they sell baked goods and Texas themed " stuff", sort of... More
