This is a family owned and operated diner that has been around for 25 plus years. The very best in home cooking!!

I have been dining at Abel's since the 1980's and have yet to get a bad meal. Suggest the eggs Benedict for breakfast along with a homemade cinnamon roll ( served Friday through Sunday).

If you want some basic, home style cooking in a casual atmosphere, this is the place. We come here often when Mama doesn't want to cook!

The place is tiny, very tight, hard to walk around, very close to other diners. The staff is not friendly at all. Waiting time for a seat is too long & not worth it. It's interesting to see the cooks cooking while you wait for your seat. Food selection is good but didn't taste worth the wait nor the price.... More

Food was delicious and affordable. They have daily specials and our server gave good recommendations that did not disappoint. We decided to eat here based on TA reviews and was pretty spot on!

We visited Abel's after a day in New Braunfels. I had the spinach salad that was delicious. Family members had fried catfish, steak, and fried shrimp. Everything was good except for some reason the rolls that came with dinner were not soft, but hard and crusty, not in a good way. We had two kinds of pie and both were... More

Abel's is not fancy and small. Depending on when you go, there might be a wait. We went on a Sunday morning around 10:30 and there was a line. Had to wait about 20-25 minutes. It's well worth the wait. Service was very good and fast! Food was fresh and hot! We had omelets, biscuits and gravy(has sausage in it-... More

Old established restaurant. Good service, may have to wait in line early mornings to get a table. Very small place. They have been open for so many years it would be nice to see an upgrade to inside such as a fresh paint job, tables, chairs and floors. It's a very old building.

The service was fast and very friendly. The food was wonderful. I had some amazing fried chicken and my husband had to he roast beef sandwich that was overflowing with beef and dipping juice . You get so much food and it was all made fresh. It was a fast drive from the wildlife ranch and will defiantly go when... More

This is a family favorite, but make sure and go early as to get a seat. The restaurant has a small seating capacity, but it's worth the wait! The homemade rolls are so yummy. From your seat, you can see straight into the kitchen where your food is freshly prepared.
