Upscale restaurant in San Marcos

Palmer's has been around for decades and is certainly one of the fanciest restaurants in the city. I've eaten here many times over the years and tends to be one of my recommendations for taking out of town guests to dinner. Because of the variety and quality of the food on the menu, there is... read more

We stopped here for lunch. It was too cool to sit outside on the patio so we went inside. There was a slight mildew smell at first inside..maybe because it had been raining for the last three weeks. The menu had some seafood appetizers and a lunch menu that had several choices. I had the spinach salad with chicken, grilled... More

My wife and I stopped off for lunch at Palmers after scuba diving at Aquarena Springs. I had not been to Palmers in several years but had memories of many enjoyable meals there. This time it was somewhat dissppointing. My tortilla soup came lukewarm and had to be sent back to the kitchen to be reheated. The half of a... More

We were able to enjoy the Courtyard area because the weather was so nice. Tableside guacamole was delicious. And recommend the Chocolate bread pudding.

Unfortunately San Marcos is not overrun with good restaurants as I guess they cater more for the student population. This is probably the most upscale restaurant around and they do have a fabulous patio area, but the food is at best, average. The appetizers and salads are all huge and should be shared between at least 2 people. For entrees,... More

My bf and I came for my birthday dinner to palmers. I wasn't impressed. I had the pecan crusted chicken, asparagus, and some type of mashed potatoes. The waiter didn't have any knowledge of the wine selections. I will come back only because everyone speaks so well of this place. The outside patio looks lovely. But the inside has vey... More

Had a very nice Sunday brunch -19 April at this restaurant and Bar. Sunday Brunch menu was very diverse and set for any appetite. Sonoran enchiladas were good, but nothing exceptional. Eggs Benedict were very good. The build your own Bloody Mary's leave it to your imagination for perfection. Outdoor patio is great for dining. Service was a bit slow,... More

Traveling through Texas and decided to stop at Palmer's due to the ratings. Really great idea! Enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. All were excellent. Loved the chips and guacamole appetizer. My son had a steak sandwich and I enjoyed one of the daily specials. Extremely pleased with the staff. Very attentive and helpful as we had not previously been... More

I am embracing a Paleo lifestyle and when I decided to make a trip to San Marcos I was pleasantly surprised to learn my favorite restaurant had many culinary options to feed my fancy. Just a few that I've enjoyed this week are vegetarian and smoked chicken tortilla soup sans tortilla strips, pecan crusted salmon, veggie roasted chili relleno and... More

Having enjoyed Palmers in the past when our son was going to school in San Marcos we decided to make the 90 mi. drive to have Easter brunch there. We had already looked at the brunch menu online and picked out what we wanted. We called ahead last night to "get in line" as they do not take reservations but... More
